Investors 'pitch' to potential funders

The Business and Marketing Community Institute (BCMI) held two "pitch days" to allow budding entrepreneurs to seek funding from its Board.

The event, called "Your Investors Link", was held on Friday, March 16, at the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, and on Friday, April 13, at Sunshine Finance.

Entrepreneurs were able to pitch their business idea, vision or concept to the Institute's Investors Board for possible funding. Board representatives included personnel from Equity Bank and Trust, the Bahamas Development Bank (BDB), Bahamas Venture Capital Fund, Sunshine Finance and 1imagine Web Development. To-date, 12 businesses have presented.

The BCMI began its inaugural Spring Session in January with over 200 registrants. It aims to equip emerging and current Bahamian entrepreneurs with the training, tools and resources to grow their business ideas.

I wonder if these so called entrepreneurs are aware that the Bahamas has crowdfund legislation. So, instead of begging old, set in their stone Board Members for funds, they can actually come to the Public for funding. If the project is viable that is, which, 9 times out of 10, the project is pie in the sky.
