A STABBING at a nightclub in Freeport left five men in hospital, police said.

The incident occurred around midnight Sunday when several men had an argument.

Supt Walter Henderson said the men were examined by doctors at the Rand Memorial Hospital who reported their injuries as serious. Police have taken several persons into custody who are assisting with the investigation.

Grand Bahama police are also investigating a traffic accident that left a teen hospitalised with serious injuries.

Supt Henderson said an 18-year-old male resident of Hepburn Town, Eight Mile Rock is listed in critical condition following an accident that occurred on Sunday in the Deadman’s Reef area.

Shortly after 8pm police responded to a report of an accident on Queen’s Highway involving a grey coloured Saturn sedan with two occupants. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle which went off the road and overturned.

The victim was taken by EMS personnel to the Rand Memorial Hospital where he was detained. The passenger sustained only minor injuries. Police are investigating the incident.

Police also said two men were arrested after they were found with dangerous drugs in their possession over the weekend.

Police were on patrol in the area of Yorkshire Drive in South Bahamia, when they stopped and searched a vehicle with two male occupants. On searching the car, officers allegedly discovered 2.4 pounds of suspected marijuana with an estimated street value of $2,500.

The men are expected to be formally charged in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court this week.
