RM Bailey Senior High School, in partnership with its alumni association, will host the official launch of its 50th anniversary celebration events with a church service this Sunday at Cousin McPhee Cathedral on Carmichael Road.

Minister of Education Jeffrey Lloyd will attend the church service and bring remarks.

The alumni association held a press conference yesterday to announce a series of events to mark its 50th anniversary.

A press release from a school official said: "The objective of the initiative is to celebrate the school and its students' accomplishments and service to the community over the past 50 years in a collective spirit of thanksgiving and praise commencing with the launch of the events via the church service."

The 50th anniversary celebration will include the following events: a walk-a-thon; principal's appreciation service and t-shirt day; float parade; homecoming; bowling tournament; community service day and a red ball.

Sunday's church service starts at 3.30pm.
