TWO people have died after separate traffic accidents on Grand Bahama and New Providence.
According to police, shortly after 11pm Friday, a woman was walking on Boyd Road when she was hit by a white Nissan Sentra. The driver stopped and was enquiring about her condition when a second car came from behind, hit the woman and dragged her a short distance away.
Paramedics were called but were unable to revive the woman, who died at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and is helping police with the investigation.
However, police are appealing to the driver of the Nissan Sentra, who left the scene of the accident, to contact them as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Grand Bahama recorded its first traffic fatality for 2018 on Saturday morning when a man died of injuries sustained in a traffic accident last week.
According to police, officers were called to a scene of a traffic accident last Thursday around 8am at the junction of Grand Bahama Highway and Coral Road, involving two vehicles.
Assistant Superintendent Terecita Pinder reported that a red 2007 Nissan Cube with three occupants and a white 2001 Honda Accord with four occupants collided and were extensively damaged. All of the passengers were injured and taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital by paramedics.
ASP Pinder said that shortly after 8am Saturday, a male passenger in the Nissan Cube died of his injuries in hospital.
Investigations into these incidents continue.

Please correct the wording of this article. It seems to suggest the driver of the sentra is the first person to hit her, check on her and also accused to fleeing the scene.
