FOREIGN Affairs Minister Darren Henfield has confirmed the government is preparing a travel letter for Bahamas-born deportee Jean Rony Jean-Charles today.

Mr Henfield, and Minister of Immigration Brent Symonette, said the document will be issued "as soon as possible."

The pair spoke with media outside the House of Assembly on Wednesday, following a landmark Supreme Court judgement declaring Mr Jean-Charles' previous expulsion from the country unlawful (see story HERE).

Mr Symonette added that Mr Jean-Charles will then be considered by the Department of Immigration for citizenship upon making an application.

Supreme Court Justice Gregory Hilton on Tuesday ordered the government immediately issue a travel document for Mr Jean-Charles and reimburse him for his travel back to the country, declaring that his rights under the Constitution have been breached.

Justice Hilton furthered that Mr Jean-Charles, upon making an application, be issued legal status no later than 60 days after his return.

The Tribune understands the Crown intends to appeal Justice Hilton’s decision.

Mr Symonette said: “The government is making provisions at the moment for a travel letter or the requisite documentation for Mr Jean-Charles to come back to Nassau. Once he’s back in Nassau, and makes an application, the Department of Immigration will look at his application and consider the appropriate action after that.

“When we see the judgement, if necessary, we will appeal the ruling,” he added.

Ma Comrades, there will be no appeal mounted by AG Carl Wilshire on behalf Imperial Crown Ministers Darren and Brent,
You'd have go with why wouldn't the highly learned members Privy Council not unanimously side with spirit our own learned Justice Gregory's ruling, that it was reasonable for Jean Rony having been born on the soil the Bahamaland to have had every expectation of his freely going about his business of buying a single cigarette and without fear being swooped up off public street only be targeted arrest, detention and swift deportation to unfamiliar country... all in spirit there being no law requiring the carrying birth certificate on your body at all times. That detention center officials showed a total disregard over their complete refusal to allow family member to visit the detention center with proof of birth certificate and other supporting documents.
Case closed, now pay up the $1 million to allow Jean Rony to get on rest his life... the price you pay when thanks to the misguided actions of this Imperial red state -twas' they that turned Jean Rony into a citizen.
Amen!

Note: They will bring him back to start the APPEALS TRANSSION! And, this will be a great case in London, England to start the Amendments of the immigration acts: 1. Article #7 nullified to illegal migrants of NO SUCH ENTITLEMENT, 2. The ban of the 10 years permit, & 3. The cessation of the affidavit process!!! A great step forward in this 21st century Bahamas....

Now bring an injunction to stop all salt and aragonite exports until Bahamians get their fair share and not just one family. This cannot be right!
