Port promotes Freeport's attraction for call centres

The Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) has partnered with Freeport-based business process outsourcing (BPO) operator, itelBPO Solutions, to promote the city for a third consecutive year.

The two joined forces at the 19th Annual Customer Contact Week (CCW) conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year's expo saw, for the first time, a combined advertising push by Caribbean promotional units, including the GBPA's Invest Grand Bahama; Caribbean Export Development Agency (CEDA); Jampro Trade & Investment Jamaica; Factories Corporation of Jamaica; and representatives from Haiti and Curacao.

These organisations joined forces to highlight the Caribbean's attraction for BPO providers. Invest Grand Bahama, in particular, highlighted the island's close proximity to the US eastern seaboard and quality infrastructure in the Caribbean.

Sebastian Tickle, itelBPO Solutions' vice-president, said: "Since its introduction to Freeport, Grand Bahama, itelBPO continues to grow and deliver voice and digital front-line service for a number of clients. The local market has been favourable, and the level of education and professionalism displayed by the agents is commendable."

Derek Newbold, the GBPA's senior manager of business development, said: "Grand Bahama is poised to attract more investment from BPO operators eager to find nearshore outsourcing opportunities in new locations.

"Our sophisticated workforce, self-replenishing talent pool, proximity to North America, economic stability, and its established contact centre activity, are a few of the reasons why Grand Bahama's BPO stakeholders believe its value to both providers and their clients make it a strategic choice to deliver a superb customer experience."

Ian Rolle, the GBPA's president, added: "Grand Bahama will continue to distinguish itself in the contact centre industry by offering quality agent services from our self-replenishing talent pool, and our skilled labour force that specialises in the tourism, financial services, and logistics industries.

"Grand Bahama will also continue to provide stability, investor support and accessibility through our concierge service, in addition to BPO incentives. As a result, Grand Bahama will gain more prominence in the global outsourcing market."

It's always "poised", isn't it? The only thing Freeport has "distinguished" itself by, is in nosediving the most prosperous island into a living hell without any form of accountability.

Self-sustaining talent pool/workforce? It doesn't exist. They've all left, or are leaving. Economic stability? People can't eat.

So, Dumb & Dumber (Rolle & Newbold) are on yet *another* jolly to the US using GBPA as their luxury travel firm, almost certainly to achieve absolutely nothing for it. Newbold was publicly cursed out by the Freeport COC for being useless, and Rolle (Albert Miller's unqualified nephew), is hated island-wide for having "presided" over the inexcusable disintegration of the free trade area into a starving slum where the only businesses who manage to operate are extorted into handing over a % for these guy's unofficial portfolios (their "concierge" service, which functions to steal ideas and partnerships from local Bahamian businesspeople).

It beggars belief these people, who are either on a sabotage/takeover mission, or are so deluded it's impossible to differentiate the vanity from stupidity, continue to be employed to do this to Bahamians and attempt to glory in it with these illiterate media quotes.

Itelbpo are a solid Jamaican company with a great ethos, who suffer Freeport for the tax-dodging that sweetens their BTC support deal (who Dumb & Dumber unethically monopolised the top-up card business of- EMIDA Ltd, the BTC top-up software, is publicly registered to Rolle and his wife). On top, all those jobs for that call center had to go through the minister (family members etc).

There is no call center industry. Just like GIDC, Itelbpo located there to keep the BTC contract, and Rolle facilitated because him and his stooge abused their position to exclusively control licenses for BTC top-up (which requires call center support). They are simply promoting their own businesses - as they publicly do on Twitter - while Bahamians starve.

It never ceases to amaze me how far some halfwits will go to slander our Bahamian men. You sir are an idiot and clearly have no idea what you're talking about. In fact, you are probably not even a Bahamian...some racist coward hiding behind a handle.

I am a Bahamian, born and bred. And from my personal knowledge, there is not one un-truth in the above post. I have firsthand knowledge of the corruption and wickedness of the head of the Port. Like many other Bahamians in places of power, the sole reason for attaining those positions, is to exercise the prerogative of "All for me -- Baby". It sickens me as to how the port treats some people -- including racism against fellow Bahamians. They have a predilection for foreigners with money. And if you say it ain't so, I know that you are a liar.

It amazes me how racist cowards continue to try to slander the names of honest and decent young Bahamians simply because they cannot handle the fact that certain people in positions of influence are local Bahamians. We all know who you are...go back to your crappy country!
