UPDATED: Two men dead after separate shootings

Two men are dead after shootings on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

In the latest incident, shortly after 4am, two armed men entered the compound of AF Adderley High School on Baillou Hill Road and Tonique Williams Darling Highway, and approached a security guard who was sitting in his vehicle. An argument ensued resulting in one of the gunmen firing a shot, injuring the security officer before escaping on foot. Paramedics were called to the scene and made attempts to resuscitate the victim, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

And on Monday night, shortly before 10pm, a man was walking on Step Street, Fox Hill Road, when a dark coloured vehicle pulled up beside him. He had a conversation with the occupants, before they shot him then sped off. Emergency Medical Personnel were called to the scene and made attempts to revive the injured man, but he died at the scene.

Speaking to The Tribune last night, Police Superintendent Shanta Knowles said: “We have beefed up our patrols. We started a new operation last week Thursday. We know that there are lots of officers on the streets who are giving their best to make sure that our communities are safe. This appears to be an isolated incident. We are working to determine motive.

“We are also asking people not to be fearful but to speak to us.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 919 or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS.

So thus begins the second event. The Nassau Drug War has only just begun, more will die, more will be enslaved by the drugs that will flood the streets.

It is so very sad that our young men are either being slaughtered on the streets or sent to Fox Hill to be raped and trained in higher criminal technical studies.

I have said over and over, any woman found pregnant who cannot produce a bank letter verifying $10,000 in long term deposits, should be given 20 years in prison.

But who am i? Just a mad hatter. What would i know?

What about the man who got her pregnant? And further more, having $10,000 in her bank account does not guarantee that her child would not grow up to be a "bad man". It just means that she is able to bail him out every time he's locked up.

You're points are totally correct. I don't have all the answers. It just pains me to see the ladies who work the cash register at the fast food restaurants in the grocery store with their 5 children filling the cart with Ramen noodles and Vienna sausage.

But maybe there is just nothing that can be done about it. Maybe God himself has ordained that Bahamian children have to suffer and then grow up to have strokes and heart attacks. People say children are a "gift" from God - so maybe that really is just the way it must be.
