PLUGGING the skills gap is an excellent idea. Regrettably, it is unlikely to realise its full potential unless a reasonably good work ethic is also cultivated.

Someone with a good work ethic can be trained to do most any job there is.
Without a good work ethic, all the education in the world will not make that person a good employee.

Absolutely correct Porcupine, unfortunately a culture of slackness has been encouraged in this country for the last fifty years resulting in the prevailing attitude of "I want a job, not work!"
