IT was a big weekend for Michael Major Jr at the Coldwell Banker/Lightbourn Realty Easter Tournament at the Gym Tennis Club over the weekend.

Major Jr, 12, won the boys’ under-14 singles title 6-0, 6-0 over Dentry Mortimer Jr. Major Jr tried his hand at the under-16 title, but lost to Denali Nottage in the semi-finals 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10). Nottage, 15, went on to win the final 6-0, 6-0 over Dentry Mortimer Jr.

Major Jr and Nottage were not done as they teamed up to play in the final of the under-18 doubles where they disposed of Jacobi Bain and Virgil Homiere, 8-4. In other scores posted, Jacobi Bain won the under-18 boys’ singles title over Callum Moodie, and Peyton Anderson won the under-18 girls’ crown over Kinza Johnson. Anderson also took the under-16 crown over Johnson, Breann Ferguson won the under-12 girls’ title over Jalisa Clarke, Kaylee Kanuka won the under-14 girls’ title over Breann Ferguson and Khai Rees won the under-12 boys’ title over Gerald Carroll.
