Two men escaped injury after a plane crash landed at Lynden Pindling International Airport on Saturday afternoon.
Shortly after 4:30pm, the private aircraft, en route from Pompano Beach, Florida to Nassau, made an emergency landing at LPIA. Two persons were on board the Challenger 60 aircraft, one American and one Bahamian. There were no injuries reported.
Immediately upon receiving the call, NAD activated its Emergency Operations Center. Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting also responded to the incident..
Due to the runway excursion, aircraft operations were interrupted for approximately one hour and 30 minutes at LPIA with services resuming at 6pm. Throughout the duration of the incident, the airport facilities remained opened.
Flights are currently arriving and departing and there were no flight cancellations. Passengers seeking additional information should visit www.nassaulpia.com or contact their airlines directly for further updates.

We don't have "delays" in the Bahamas. Being "behind" is just our normal mode of life. Relax yaseff.

"Due to the runway excursion". Tribune, I think the word you are looking for is "incursion" LOL!

Nope (LOL) it's called an excursion. As in away from, rather than incursion which means into. It's a good aviation term.

I suppose it's down to whose definition you use for the two words. To me, excursion is more like going off the runway and I thought the aircraft had landed on the runway but as Tribune has removed the photo........ In any event, it's all good and no-one was hurt! Thank you for your edification.

Tribune is correct. "Excursion" is the proper aviation term. LOL!

The definition is "divination from regular pattern or level of operations". . .in general terms. Our mail boats have them all the time during holidays. . .they go on one day trips. . .away from their usual one week trip schedules.

I am glad that they are in one piece. There was no such incident today, yet my 12:30pm flight to Orlando on Bahamas Air, left after 3pm. I hope airlines realise their spiel about being "sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused," doesn't erase missed connections and pure aggravation.
