Bahamas signs UK trade deal

The Bahamas has become the latest Caribbean nation to sign a regional trade agreement with the United Kingdom as that nation continues its preparations to exit the European Union (EU).

The new Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between members of the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM), including The Bahamas, and the UK is necessary to preserve trade continuity given that the latter will no longer be a signatory to this region’s ten year-old EPA with the EU due to its impending departure.

The UK EPA was signed on The Bahamas’ behalf on November 27, 2019, by Ellison E Greenslade, this nation’s high commissioner for the UK.
