A 26-year-old man was arraigned in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with one count of procuring a minor for the purpose of unlawful sexual intercourse.
Dwight Johnson, of Mason’s Addition, stood before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt charged with procuring a 12-year-old girl on Wednesday, January 23, for the purpose of having unlawful sex, contrary to Section 7(A)(1) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 99.
Johnson, who was represented by attorney V. Alfred Gray, was not required to enter a plea to the charge and the case was adjourned to March 28 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
Bail was denied and he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDCS) until that time or until he is successful in securing bail from the Supreme Court.
