‘It was a good run’ for Jacobi Bain at 55th Coffee Bowl

JACOBI Bain opened his 2019 season on the ITF Junior Circuit at the 55th Coffee Bowl in San Jose, Costa Rica.

It was a second-round exit in doubles play and a first round exit in singles play in the Grade 1 event at the Cope Del Café Tennis Centre.

Bain, 15, lost to fifth seeded Ronan Jachuck of the United States 6-3, 6-0 in singles play.

In doubles play, Bain partnered with Marko Andrejic of Austria, losing in the second round to No.8 Shintaro Mochizuki of Japan and Spencer Whitaker of the United States 6-2, 6-3.

According to the BLTA: “The winning team was very good in all phases of the game and both of those players are still in the singles draw. It was a good run for Jacobi, winning a round at this level, be it doubles, and it will boost his confidence going forward in 2019. The experience again is invaluable and will serve him well as he continues to develop his craft.”
