A MAN is in need of blood after he was ejected from a vehicle last week, injuring his knee and dislocating his spine in two places.
Ashton Forbes, a 23-year-old resident of Abaco, is in Princess Margaret Hospital seeking the public’s help for blood donations.
Lavonda Smith, his mother, said PMH is not looking for any specific blood type, but officials there are asking for blood to be donated to help her son.
In an interview with The Tribune, Ms Smith said: “Mentally my son is conscious and stable, but I’m sure he is depressed.
“On January 17, (my son) fell asleep behind the wheel on Ernest Dean Highway in Abaco and the vehicle flipped multiple times which resulted with him being ejected from the car. As result he ended up with a dislocated spine in two places... and a knee injury which resulted in his tibia being broken.
“The car landed on its side up against a tree and if the car wasn’t on its side, based on where it was found, nobody would have never seen him, so the lady who saw him, Denise Claridge, you’re his angel.”
She added: “We are grateful for those persons who came to his aid so far because the accident happened on the highway in the wee hours in the morning.”
Mr Forbes is a dive instructor for Dive Abaco and his mother hopes he will recover and be able to return to his passion of diving.

The tragedy is so many refuse to give blood because they are scared or have some other excuse. Yet these same people need to realise that they or a loved one could quite possibly need blood sometime in the future. What is also needed are more genuine donors who give not knowing who will receive it as opposed to those who will only give in the event of a close relative needing blood.

**"him being ejected from the car"**
Did he use his seat belt? It is unlikely that he would have been ejected with his seat belt on. Would everyone please make sure that they are buckled up.
I wish him a speedy recovery
