PAUL Greene continues to excel at the prep basketball level in Canada with an MVP in his latest tournament appearance.

J Addison School captured The Pinky Lewis Invitational championship title and Greene was named tournament MVP after he averaged 21 points, 13 rebounds and five assists over the course of the event.

Hosted by McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, the tournament featured 10 teams from several of the elite prep schools in Canada.

Greene leads the inaugural edition of the prep basketball programme at J Addison and has made an immediate impact.

The Grand Bahama native has already started to draw interest from U Sports and Division I programmes after just a few weeks in Canada and his performances at the Early Bird Prep Classic and All Canadian Prep Jamboree.

According to North Pole Hoops: “The Pinky Lewis has been a staple in the Ontario high school basketball season for almost 40 years, dating back to 1979. It originated as a four-team university tournament, but eventually transitioned to a high school tournament under the guidance of Joe Raso, currently the head scout for the Canadian national team.

Norman ‘Pinky’ Lewis, who the tournament is named after, was a beloved and respected sports administrator and athlete in Hamilton who was best known for his involvement with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the McMaster Marauders.

The Pinky Lewis Recreational Centre in Hamilton continues his legacy in serving the community.

Greene matriculated to Canada after a stellar senior season with the St George’s Jaguars in Grand Bahama. He led the Jaguars to an historic season and captured several top-tiered accolades over the course of the year.

He was named the MVP as he led the Jaguars to an undefeated regular season and local championship title in Grand Bahama.

The Jaguars went on to finish as runners-up in the 2019 Hugh Campbell final but highlighted the year when they became the first two-time winners of the Bahamas National High School Basketball tournament in April. Greene finished with 22 points.
