US travel advisory remains unchanged

THE United States Embassy in Nassau has stressed that the US State Department’s overall travel advisory for The Bahamas has not changed since a previous level two advisory was issued in February.

In a post to its Facebook page, the embassy said an alert posted on the State Department’s website was only updated on Tuesday to remove “the special alert issued for Grand Bahama related to Hurricane Dorian.”

The embassy added: “The rest of the travel advisory for The Bahamas writ large remains unchanged.”

This came after this newspaper reported on Wednesday that the US had issued another travel alert for The Bahamas ahead of the holiday season due to the “increased risk” of becoming a victim of crime.

The Tribune is happy to correct the matter.

The six million tourists visiting the country every year proves the ordinary American citizen is not into the US State Department and their prejudices against Bahamians. That fact that so many are kept safe and enjoy incident and crime free vacations confirm these advisories are baseless. More Bahamians are now being robbed or assaulted in Florida alone than the number of Americans that experience crime in The Bahamas.

Then you should question the Bahamian Government as to why they are not warning their citizens when they travel abroad. All the warnings are there due to prior experiences in those areas. Experiences which the Government has still not cleared up. There have been children killed due to our water sports industry and the Government has still not properly managed it. until that changes expect no change in these advisories.

Water sports and number houses. John should also bear in mind that the US can easily with the stroke up a pen remove preclearance from Nassau, make our 6 month stamps be 6 day stamps and then you have to file a request for extension and pay the non-refundable $370 OR EVEN class us with Cuba and make travel here illegal for Americans without a special permit.
The stink attitide that stems from our "independence" is causing us no end of problems.
Remember attitude determines altitude and most of the Bahamas in underwater in that metaphor.
