A MAN died after he was hit by a crane and thrown to the ground at a construction site in West Ridge, New Providence on Saturday, police said.

The man was standing on the scaffolding at a construction site shortly after 11am when the crane, operated by another man, accidentally hit him and threw him to the ground, police said.

Paramedics were called to the scene and attempted to resuscitate the victim, but were unsuccessful. He died at the scene.

Police are investigating the death as an industrial accident.
