And to think we only had **FOUR** confirmed active cases 2-3 weeks ago 🤦‍♂️

They need to acknowledge the root of the problem, it's not Bahamians travelling, it's not opening the borders "alone", it's the "decision" made to open the borders without adequately thinking of and mitigating risks.

The truth is you can't say we dont have the resources to test but we need to open. There will be no economy if a large percentage of the population is sick. The only way to open is if you either have resources to test or properly monitor everyone crossing the border, because anybody including rich tourists can bring the virus (Herman Caine just died, Im positive he would have gotten the red carpet if he showed up here unknowingly infected). An infected tourist could infect the bellman, the front office clerk, room service attendant, the maid all of whom go back into the community.

**Thinking with our eyes is our greatest problem**

GB with a population of 50, 000 has the most cases in the country, and you believe travel, socializing, general behavioural patterns werent a significant contributing factor.

... both poor decision making by the government and individuals are to blame. The reality is people were socializing in GB BEFORE the travel ban was lifted and there were no cases. This all happened AFTER people were allowed to travel!

I agree, my position is that i dont need the govt to tell me not to go to florida, allowed or not, i aint going for no reason that is not pressing. I certainly am not going then mixing amd mingling with people knowing the risk. I mean we didnt go to other states, we went to florida. Yes, the govt should have not allowed ppl to travel with the 72 hr loophole. But this position that they shouldnt be expected to make reasonable decisons but simultaneously free to make decisions - not be lockdown - is just.... anyway, im over the covid saga. Everyone stay safe.

nuance appears to be lost.

Without the "decision" to open, none of the things you mentioned would have happened. Secondly without a flawed decision we would not have opened in conditions with the quarantine center closed and the hotline shutdown. Its clear that they were operating on alot of hope and not much planning.

Thirdly the PM said we dudnt need wide spread testing becayse we had the best contact tracing system in the region. At 600 cases and 4000 tests, Renward Wells asked us to be patient because contact tracing is overwhelmed. How many people did they test the contact tracing system for? 10% of 400,000 is 40,000. Did they role play It? Again "decisions".

If you identify the real cause of the problem you have a chance to fix it. The decision making is flawed.

Almost every State gave their citizens the option to quarantine at home after travel. Yes, the decision is flawed. I dont dispute that. So, i guess we should of just stayed lockdown or locked in since March or whenever it started. Everything would have been peachy.

You dwindling die-hard Minnis supporters just can't bring yourselves to say: *"MINNIS & D'AGUILAR'S MOST FOOLISH AND STUPID DECISION TO PREMATURELY REOPEN OUR BORDERS TO TRAVELLERS FROM THE US IS **THE ROOT CAUSE** OF THE RAGING COMMUNITY SPREAD OF THE DEADLY COMMUNIST CHINA VIRUS THAT OUR COUNTRY NOW SUFFERS FROM."* End of story!

youre totally missing the point. I've never once said lock down forever. My advocacy has always been to open *wisely*. I never believed we were ready to open the borders July 1, neither did the hotels or the cruise lines, and clearly we werent. Yes there will always be unknowns some of which cause negative side effects. But there were too many deliberately ignored *knowns* when they made the decision to open. I say "deliberately" because the active decision to close all quarantine facilities told us exactly what the priority was, "good PR".

I am defending the fnm, sure, please stop presenting yourselves as intellectuals and analysts, but everyone who says or opines a contrary view is just defending the FNM. There are known non - fnm voices in this community, who to this day opine that that the flu kill more ppl and dismiss the reality of the pandemic. EW news, not sure if its true, intends to bring that US doctor on to discuss her belief that hydrochloriquine, is a prevantive measure and treatment for covid - people may believe her. I'm not defending or blaming anyone - wish it was the easy - all i know is here in gb i watch strangers, friends and family out and about at showers, parties, the pool by bones, mingling with ppl who they say aint take no test, people who were allegedly suppose to be in quarantine out and about, still going to work not saying anything. I also, can go on ewnew archives to find their commentators saying only 11 ppl died and they had pre existing conditions as a reason we shouldnt have been lockdown in the first place. Anyway, continue to attempt to insult , demean, bully everyone who doesnt agree or offers any contrary perspective. I really dont care. Today for me tomorrow for you. Stay safe.

but this was happening from May/June when the borders were closed. I saw people too. The spread happened when the borders opened. The borders were opened unwisely I.e. too early, adequate protections not in place. I'm not bullying you, I certainly didn't insult you, I spoke to the evidence, indisputable facts. Present the data to someone living on mars for the padt 5 years, including the judge saying **before** July 1 that people werent taking the lockdown seriously (but no spread), the man on the moon will come to the same conclusion.

maybe I shouldn't have said you were defending the fnm...you gat me there

No problem.

I dont believe that because the decision is flawed the citizens behaviour should not change. I expect my neighbour, co worker, etc to have consideration for me in how they move knowing that their is a pandemic, knowing that the original decision is flawed or has loopholes, knowing that travel is allowed. That is not born out of my politics, or any attempt to blame anyone, thats based the reality that covid is here, people will and some will not get vaccinated, and life has to move on.

we probably had these numbers back in march/April but government policy was *we dont want to know, high numbers are bad for our brand*. The most important number is probably the hospitalizations. they're not gonna admit you unless you're in bad shape. and this virus appears like it could morph into anything, you go in with difficulty breathing and then suddenly your kidneys are failing
