Lockdown and curfew lifted for Spanish Wells

The Office of the Prime Minister has announced that, based on the advice of health officials, Spanish Wells may resume normal commercial and social activity, effective immediately.

The lockdown and curfew have been lifted for Spanish Wells because health officials have not recorded any recent suspected COVID-19 activity on the island for at least two weeks.

Residents of Spanish Wells must continue to practice COVID-19 prevention health guidelines in accordance with the Emergency Powers Lockdown Order.

Consideration for the resumption of normal commercial and social activity will continue to be given to other Family Islands that have not recorded suspected COVID-19 activity for at least two weeks on a case by case basis.

To break up the tedium of these 24-hour lockdowns, there should be an online lottery where people can wager on what the Competent Authority will issue after business hours on any one Friday. The OPM (Office of the Prime Minister) appears to have issued an interesting one yesterday (Friday, August 14) that allows vendors at Potters Cay to open only to essential workers today (Saturday, August 15) between 8:00 AM and noon. I do hope the Potters Cay vendors and those essential workers got the memo! See: https://opm.gov.bs/emergency-powers-cov…

This is just hilarious...Minnis has lost his marbles...does this include Russel island? Why not open south Eleuthera or central? Will you tell us, oh mighty leader how-or when we have suspected cases or the methods by which this suspicion will arise? Or is it simply a function of how well we behave in the face of draconian measures? Or how you feel about a particular island on a Friday afternoon...The law used to be innocent until proven guilty...the world is upside down.

May 19:

"*On Sunday, a representative from the Office of the Prime Minister said the government is being guided by medical professionals in making guidelines.*

*Yesterday Dr Brennen was asked why islands like the Berry Islands, with no COVID-19 cases, were not considered when restrictions for the other islands were lifted.*

"*I honestly do not know,” Dr Brennen said. “I think that’s a Cabinet and Office of the Prime Minister level decision. That is not a Ministry of Health level decision.*”

Minnis is simply trying to avoid responsibility for his decisions. " It is not me, i only act on the recommendationsof my Covid 19 team". I am sure anyone watching this circus that is going on must be amazed how they accomplished to not only not contain the virus but also destroy the economy at the same time.

**True** The Colony cannot sustain itself financially nor, **psychologically** under hopscotch lockdowns but the **Central Authority** has no other option than to **vacate** any idea of returning the economy back to preCOVID-19's open welcoming tourist.
WE have thnk ahead in prolonged terms of 2-5 years, not **unpredictable** 2 week shutdown periods. Cruise ship passengers must not even be considered for a minimum **6** months post a **proven** easily assessable to **all** vaccine...and, remember we are **all Mortal!**
