The Bahamas is one of just four countries to have multiple prospects on the latest edition of Major League Baseball Pipeline’s Top 100.
Kristian Robinson of the Arizona Diamondbacks was listed at No. 47 while Jazz Chisholm of the Miami Marlins was listed at No.72 overall.
Robinson was also added to Arizona’s 60-man player pool yesterday. The club assigned him to its alternative training site at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Arizona.
He becomes the third Bahamian prospect to join their respective club’s “taxi squad” in this shortened season along with Chisholm and Lucius Fox of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The United States (77), Dominican Republic (13), and Venezuela (4), were the only other counties with multiple prospects to make the list.
Cuba, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Canada each had one prospect listed.
Robinson, the Diamondbacks No.1 overall prospect, was not initially added to the taxi squad but still had an opportunity to train under team supervision.
When the MLB shut down all baseball activity in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Robinson remained in Arizona and thus was allowed to continue to train at the Diamondbacks’ spring training facility when the season resumed.
Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic said a Diamondbacks spokesman elaborated on the 19-year-old outfielders’ status.
“Kristian isn’t on the list because he can work out at Salt River Fields without being on the list based on the fact that he couldn’t go home (to the Bahamas)” in the first place,” said the spokesperson.
