FOLLOWING a recent attempted human smuggling incident in Grand Bahama, law enforcement officers report experiencing “a sharp increase in the number of interdicted incidents” in the northern Bahamas.
According to reports, seven foreign nationals were apprehended Tuesday evening in Grand Bahama as a result of an Immigration-led operation supported by members of the Royal Bahamas Defence and Police forces and the United States Coast Guard.
At about 11.30am, suspects were in the process of boarding a white 25-30ft open hull vessel in the area of Eight Mile Rock, where law enforcement officers acting on intelligence intercepted five Haitians, a Jamaican woman and a Brazilian, who were suspected of being engaged in human smuggling.
The matter is under investigation.

It's becoming painfull clear to all Bahamians that absent U.S. intelligence sources and the U.S. Coast Guard we would have absolutely no means by which to intercept, engage and stop human smugglers operating from within our country. And the U.S. is really only concerned about preventing the smuggled illegal aliens from reaching the U.S. mainland.
Our RBDF is useless notwithstanding the many millions of dollars squandered by our corrupt governments on defense force sea vessels and aircraft; all of which equipment quickly fall into a functionless state of disrepair. The same can be expected of Marvin Dame's very costly drones - now estimated to cost well over $20 million.

Absolutely correct - especially about U.S. only concerned about their mainland. There have been many reports showing clearly that the Bahamas is being overtaken by Haitian persons and by Chinese business. The U.S. is perfectly aware of this. In the case of The Pointe, they simply rolled over and played dead and decided to move their embassy instead of telling the Bahamas when the work permit was applied for - that if it is approved - they will shut down the preclearance at the airport - or some other drastic measure.
They did nothing. And continue to do nothing, and allow our government to sell us to the merchant ships - of Haiti and China (and there are PLENTY merchant ships from Haiti, don't be fooled). We continue to operate for nearly a decade with a U.S. Ambassador.
Apparently the "threat" of a rogue nation 70 miles off their shore is actually not at all a threat to them. Their defense department must have analyzed the situation and concluded that.

By the way. How come they didn't arrest the Captain?

The U.S. government is well aware that Jamaicans are behind most of the more lucrutive human smuggling activities within the Caribbean/West Indies.

I read the story. I saw Haiti, Jamaica, Brazil, Bahamas. What does US have to do with this. Ok to satisfy you. Why weren't the Jamaican smugglers arrested?
