NPBA: High Flyers and rockets in win column

THE New Providence Basketball Association continued its regular season action over the weekend with a series of games played at the AF Adderley Gymnasium. Here’s a summary of the games played:

Flyers 84, Shockers 69

Dale Davis pumped in a double-double with a game high 25 points and 24 rebounds to pace Breezes in their division one victory on Saturday night as they improved their win-loss record to 9-2.

Three other players were in double figures as Rashad Ingraham scored 16 points with five rebounds, Jeremy Neely had 15 points and four assists and Shantoin Pratt added 10 points with five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

In a losing effort for JD’s Seafood, who dropped to 6-5, Horris McKenzie scored 18 points with seven rebounds and three steals, William Rigby had 15 points, eight rebounds, three steals, two blocks and an assist and Spurgeon Johnson chipped in with 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and as many steals.

NPBA 91, Regulators 83

Abaco Strong, in improving to 4-6, had five players in double figures, led by Tevin Hudson with a game high 29 points with seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals and blocks on Saturday night.

Chauncey Cooper had 23 points, 21 rebounds, seven assists and two steals, Enrico Joseph had 12 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals, Welton Cherisme had 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals and Lorenzo Davis also had 20 points.

Leno dropped to 4-7 as Kenneth Pratt led their attack with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Lloyd Bailey had 15 points and two steals and Alexander Rolle had 11 points and four rebounds. Cruz Simon had eight points and seven rebounds and Wilfred Culmer also had eight points, four assists and two rebounds.

High Flyers 97, Elites 93

Troy Trembley canned a game high 27 points with 17 rebounds to help lift Breezes on Saturday night as they improved to 3-8 in division II.

Shaquille Outten had 14 points and three steals, Jamaal Simon had 13 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals, Terrell Bridgewater had eight points, five steals and four rebounds, Johnathan Johnson also had eight points with four assists and three rebounds and Jason McCardy added eight points as well with three steals, two assists as two rebounds.

Simar Rolle had 24 points, seven rebounds and five steals and Tario McKenzie also had 24 points with four steals, two rebounds and two assists as the Sports Center fell to 3-7.

Twin brother Dario McKenzie chipped in with 17 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists, Brandon Ingraham added 13 points, four rebounds and as many assists, Anfernee Jenoure had eight points, 25 rebounds and two steals and Ricardo Taylor Jr had seven points and three rebounds.

Rockets 81, Wolverines 52

Able Joseph’s 16 points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal was good enough to help propel the Discount Distributors to victory on Friday night as they pushed their division one record to 9-2.

Georgio Walkes had 14 points and seven assists with two rebounds, Cordero Pinder had 13 points and six rebounds, Livingstone Munnings had 12 points and nine rebounds and Dominique Beadle added 11 points and three steals.

For the Island Dimension & Development, who are now 5-6, Charaz LaFleur had 13 points, four rebounds and two steals and Dominique Fernander had 12 points, 10 rebounds and two steals. Tomeko Moxey had nine points and Rashad Saunders had eight points and six rebounds.

Mingoes 99, Specialists 97

Kemsey Sylvestre poured in a game high 47 points, including the game winning basket with just 11.10 seconds on the clock at the end of the second overtime period on Friday night as the University of the Bahamas pushed their division one record to 8-2.

Sylvestre also had 13 rebounds, four assists, three steals and as many blocks. Robert Joseph helped out with 18 points, six assists, six steals and five rebounds, Christoff McKenzie had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and as many steals and Rashad Seymour had 10 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Uptown Cuts, now 3-7, got 26 points and 16 rebounds from Adorn Charlow, Colton Albury had 23 points, 18 rebounds, four steals and three assists, Stephan Burrows had 20 points, four assists and four steals and Jeron Smith had 10 points and six rebounds.

The Mingoes led 20-13 at the end of the first quarter and they held onto a 31-30 margin at the half. They surged ahead 47-43 after the third quarter, but they held off the Specialists as Sylvestre hit a jumper for a 68-68 tie at the end of regulation.

With 10.8 seconds left in the first overtime, Charlow scored a lay-up to allow Uptown Cuts again to come back to force an 84-84 tie to push ahead to the second overtime before Sylvestre came up with the clutch basket for the University of the Bahamas victory.

Rockets 59, Stampers 43

Lerecus Armbrister led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals as Sun Oil won their division II encounter to improve to 9-2.

Collin Storr had 11 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks and Cameron Chery had 10 points and four rebounds.

Mark Sawyer had a game high 26 points and four rebounds and Kenrick Charlton contributed 12 points, six rebounds and three steals to pace Tripler K, who fell to 2-9. Mark Campbell added seven points and 14 rebounds.
