POLICE Commissioner Anthony Ferguson said a local liquor store was prevented yesterday from launching a delivery service because it breached emergency orders now in effect and liquor licence provisions.
Commissioner Ferguson said he was unsure if any liquor deliveries were made, but officers visited the business to ensure it knew liquor delivery would be against the law. The commissioner said the RBPF received an advertisement about the service and looked into it yesterday.
“We dealt with that,” the police chief told The Tribune. “We saw that and we sent officers to make sure if they had started anything to make sure that they desist.
“We saw the ad and we quickly responded to action to make sure that it does not happen and persons understand because that’s in violation.”
He added: “Not only is it a breach of the order but a breach of the liquor licence. You can’t go and sell alcohol anywhere as you wish.
“You have to have a licence and a licence like that they don’t have the trading provision they would need to do that.”
He said if other businesses planned to do the same, “they can expect to be dealt with”.
“We expect people to cooperate with the order,” said Commissioner Ferguson.
Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis has issued two emergency orders to prevent the spread of COVID-19, mandating the closure of most businesses, with few exceptions, and instituting a national curfew.
Under the orders, grocery and non-alcoholic beverage mobile delivery services are permitted.
Liquor stores, however, have been ordered to close to the public.

Don't the powers to be realize that for some persons liquor is essential, it's a good thing they can't shut down persons purchasing cannabis or we would really be in trouble, in times like these some people need some sort of comforter along with the Father's prayers.

What is it with this island?!?!? As soon as any rule or law or order comes into place people do their best to get around it. Next they say it is custom, then tradition and before you know it it is considered to be culture.

Asinine BS. Nassau will have riots in the streets. Minnis will get to use the shiny new peoples republic riot gear finally. Then people will start dying from bathtub gin or get moonshine blindness. The black market will flourish. meanwhile the liquor merchants will suffer massive business losses and lay more people off. more unemployed on the streets. more economic tailspin. at what point do people crack and say enough of taking away liberties and start fighting back? worldwide statistic as of March 27, 2020: 575,767 divided by 7,800,000,000 = 7.4 per 100,000 people. of that 4% will have severe illness or 3 persons per million. Proportional response yes?
"in the U.S. alone, the flu (also called influenza) has caused an estimated 38 million illnesses, 390,000 hospitalizations and 23,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). "

People who want alcohol will find a way. So they have now created the unnecessary tasks of policing what adults do in their homes; and also tracking "illegal" suppliers. How are they going to keep all these violators six feet apart in a crowded cell? I have to wonder how much of this is based on personal values than practicality. The lockdown shouldnt be manipulated to test dictatorial boundaries.

There was another political party which verged on dictatorship several decades ago. Ironically, this was prevented by the election of the current party which has become flagrantly dictatorial, seemingly overnight, under the guise of imposing martially restrictive regulations on our citizenry.

Both Sands and Minnis as medical doctors know full well that many alcoholics who are made to go cold turkey are likely to develope a very serious medical condition that can result in death if left untreated. Anthony Ferguson probably doesn't know this given that he has proven himself to be nothing but a very daft and dense brute over and over again.
