SATURDAY UPDATE: The latest on the coronavirus can be found HERE
UPDATE: The Ministry of Health last night confirmed that the latest case of coronavirus is in New Providence.
This tenth case is a 52-year-old woman who has a history of travel to the United States, but no links to the previous cases. She remains stable and is at home in isolation.
In a statement, the ministry said: "Health officials continue to follow the condition of the other nine COVID-19 positive cases. None of the cases are in hospital, and all are in stable condition.
"Members of the public are reminded to follow the Emergency Powers (COVID-19) Order announced by the Prime Minister, Dr Hubert Minnis, to reduce the spread of the virus, including physical distancing."
People are urged to stay at home, call your healthcare provider or the surveillance hotline if you are feeling ill and having fever and/or respiratory symptoms, frequently wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, cover your mouth and nose with your inner elbow or with a tissue (and then discard it) when coughing or sneezing, and refrain from touching your face.
The ministry's hotline is 376-9350 (8am-8pm) and 376-9387 (8pm-8am), 502-7382 or toll free 1-242-300-2619. Updates can also be found online at www.covid19.gov.bs or the Bahamas Ministry of Health Facebook page. People can also email covid19@bahamas.gov.bs.

The Ministry of Health confirmed one new case of the novel coronavirus on Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to ten.
This latest case is in New Providence.
According to the latest Ministry of Health COVID-19 dashboard, two people are currently being held in a quarantine facility and 40 people have been released from quarantine.
The Ministry did not give specifics about the additional case.
In a press conference on Thursday, Health Minister Dr Duane Sands had revealed that four more people in New Providence had tested positive for the highly contagious disease.
The minister also said that one of the patients had a recent travel history and revealed that all four new cases are at home in isolation since they do not require hospital care at the moment.
During the press conference, Dr Sands also urged the public to take the necessary health precautions to deter the spread of the disease.
“COVID-19 remains a very serious threat. Around the world, more than 23,000 people have died from this virus. It is very important to address you today about prevention and it’s important that you listen to and follow this advice,” he said.
“Ignoring this advice could lead to you contracting the virus and getting sick and possibly dying. Ignoring this advice could lead to the spread of it to your families and friends and they could get sick and die.
“There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19.”
To date, there are 585,040 confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide with 129,812 recovered cases and 26,819 deaths.

We all know that there are much more than 10 cases here. More than **likely there are hundreds of cases** for anyone who is willing to be truthful (we just haven't tested all the infected).

What I'm actually happy to see is that **there are no deaths here at this time**, especially after the hundreds of cases that actually exist, if we want to be honest.
So there is no need to be so alarmed every time an infected person is tested! There are many infected people here who simply don't know it!!!

This is getting out of hand now. We need to stay inside and control this. We must be ready when the US opens up. If we are not, we will lose those initial tourist that are dying to get out and travel.

From the looks of things at this point, the US is in for a long hard battle with states acting like individual countries instead of the "united states" and making a single concentrated effort to fight Covid19! This will only prolong the problem and cause more people to be affected.
Hopefully, the PM strategy works as it has in China and we are way ahead of the US recovery, so we can start an aggressive marketing campaign to the Americans will still be in shut down suffering major cabin fever.
One thing for sure, with people dying from Covid19 because they lack insurance, Americans might be forced to reconsider Bernie Sanders after all!

Government and The Tribune are doing the public a grave misservice by making it seem that there are only 10 persons infected with the Red China Virus in The Bahamas. Many, many others on New Providence have been infected but just don't know it yet because they have not presented themselves to the healthcare authorities with the symptoms that would trigger them being tested.

Good ! Let them continue to not present themselves to the healthcare authorities, unless their symptoms become serious. From what I've heard, most people only exhibit mild symptoms, so IMO the best course of action is for them to self isolate to reduce the risk of them passing it on to healthcare workers or other members of the public with underlying health conditions

It's more likely to become known as "The stay at home and die policy" because our healthcare system just doesn't have the resources and equipment needed to make a difference. That's what many in the NYC major metropolitan area are already calling it.

That's why we.need to stay home. It's all about exponential growth and not linear growth. By the time it becomes exponential, it will be too late.

Believe me, you wouldn't want to know the very tragic truth about what's been happening in Red China since November as a result of their virus. And the rest of the world will never know about the inhumanity and number of coronavirus caused deaths in Red China because of the ruthless Xi Jinping led communist regime's great penchant for secrecy to hide and cover up its dastardly and most horrifying deeds.

The Government's response here in the Bahamas has been good, but there are at least 2 simple low-cost additional measures that Chinese scientists consider essential. (1) everyone should wear a mask whenever not at home (2) even mild cases should not be isolated at home, where they will always infect others, but placed in separate controlled quarantine facilities. Please read this recent interview with the chief Chinese scientist: https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/03…

The original source for your scientific advice is very likely misinformation deliberately spread by the ruthless Xi Jinping led communist regime. Red China is flooding the internet based media with loads and loads of misinformation in the hope of portraying themselves as having the best solution for limiting the number of horrific deaths around the world caused by their very own pathogen - the Red China Virus!
