World Athletics’ return for 2021 season all set

WORLD Athletics has scheduled its return for the 2021 season in an amended Olympic year.

The Wanda Diamond League released a provisional yesterday, which features 14 meets ranging from the May 23 opener in Rabat, Morocco to the September 8-9 finale in Zurich, Switzerland.

The 12th edition of the Diamond League will host two meets in May with the meet in Doha, Qatar on May 28 following the season opener.

June will also feature two meets, in Rome, Italy on June 4 and Oslo, Norway on June 10.

The schedule continues on July 4 in Stockholm, Sweden, in Monaco on July 9 and July 13 in London, England before a month long break for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Following the Olympics, the Diamond League resumes with five meets scheduled in August, including Shanghai, China on August 14, in Eugene, Oregon on August 21, a new meet added to the schedule in China on August 22, in Lausanne, Switzerland on August 26 and Paris, France August 28.

The schedule closes out in Brussels, Belgium on September 3 before the season finale in Zürich. Athletes earn points throughout the course of the first 13 meets to earn a spot in the finale.
