Somehow Hubert "Category 5 Hurricane" Minnis has done the impossible, he's gotten even slower than before in the head and still thinks its a great idea to reopen our borders **AGAIN** to America! Then we'll begin to surge **AGAIN** and continue to suffer via harsh lockdowns by his majesty!

Until they acknowledge that the greatest threat posed by this virus comes from the border and not from Bahamians partying or parked at the beach, we're doomed. Our current numbers were caused by 6000 travellers.

Another danger is Dr Minnis. He will say and do whatever is politically expedient. Just 3(?) weeks ago he said we were nearing the end and lockdowns were a thing of the past. There was literally no evidence that this was the case. He just randomly proclaimed it.

Just look at Europe now. Europe is shutting down again. Spain, italy , france, germany, are all confused. Net york is talking about or have already shut down all private and public schools. The world does not have a hold on this pandemic. Countries hundreds of years old with trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of scientist, doctors, and intellects living within their borders, but still no one had an answer. Don't sit behind a computer and think you have the answer because I don't claim to have it either. Stop judging Minnis and the other Bahamians whom are trying their best. No one had the answer , otherwise the world would have been back to normal since March.

what you're missing is that sensible people were all over the country saying this process is flawed. Minnis did not listen. It's not like noone gave alternative suggestions or that nobody said July 1 is simply too early we're not ready, and what are we using as criteria for moving through phases. These things were said repeatedly.

No-one is saying do not open the border. People are saying listen. Sunday he announced he's putting rules in place to have oversight over labs conducting COVID tests. If that announcement after 100 deaths didn't scare the bejesus out of you I don't know what would. Hes a former minister if health and a medical doctor. Im neither and weeks ago I made comments about rules for labs assuming they were in place already.

I believe "the world's" response is due to another visionless man in power to our North. If Barack Obama had been president I think we would be seeing a much different outcome, the virus threat would have been taken seriously and the US effort would have been coordinated across the 50 US states and the world.

Do not underestimate the damage a dumb leader can do. Just look at him knowing he's infectious and driving around with highly trained top of their class irreplaceable professionals potentially infecting them unnecessarily. You want to know why the world is where it is....look at leadership

... over the past few months, persons on this blog have given more sound advice than those in government and some with medical training. That speaks volumes about the leadership of this country and its future!

Are the cases on Abaco directly linked to travel between Abaco and Florida? And to some degree Sbaco and New Providence? What types of businesses are having a large number of employees test positive? What about more younger people moving about on New Providence? Students who may be taking the virus back home?

It does not matter. I will not take two job losses in less than a year for this.

Why are you shutting down when the country will open back up in 2 weeks?

The only people who argue for lockdown are those who have not lost income.

It is disgusting. I have started ghosting people. Some of which I have known for more than 30 years.

Fully agree on the lost income part. . If the government had enforced the laws and we had this rise then maybe i could agree with another lockdown. But they have not done that. I drive West Bay street a lot and see so many people partying, and there is no one stopping it. Until they do that there will be wide spread Covid. As one of those in charge of people who broke the law said, it is what it is.

Shut down down for a few weeks but open up on Nov 1 for the tourists? Damage the local economy for tourism? Makes no sense. The ppl who are okay with lockdowns have job security (govt) or a good amount in savings.

Not one person wants to show integrity (why do we have her struggling unnecessarily?). But they’re expecting God to bless them?

"The people who are okay with lockdowns have job security", no, the people whom are okay with a lockdown have family members , friends and acquaintances .

We all need to cover our noses, otherwise the mask is useless! This needs to be considered as not wearing a mask at all.

The best protection from Covid comes from a proper diet, exercise, not smoking, getting lots of sleep, and take vitamin D3 if you don't get enough sunshine.
