EDITOR, The Tribune.
The individual or individuals behind the pseudonym, Front Porch, now a weekly columnist for The Tribune, are paragons of Bahamian left-wing liberalism.
In an October 2019 write-up entitled “Twisted theology and rancid homophobia of Rev Delton Fernander,” Front Porch said the following: “Infamous fundamentalists Franklin Graham, Jerry Falwell Jr and Pat Robertson have all manically claimed that hurricanes are often God’s punishment for homosexuality.”
This Front Porch piece was published on October 24, which was 54 days removed from Hurricane Dorian’s catastrophic landfall on Abaco and Grand Bahama.
Ironically, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s Rapid Response Team along with Samaritan’s Purse were in Abaco and Grand Bahama days after the passage of Dorian, assisting thousands of needy Bahamians and Haitians.
With the devastation to the Rand Memorial Hospital, the healthcare system being virtually at a standstill on Grand Bahama.
Samaritan Purse’s presence on Grand Bahama was a God-send. The announcement that Samaritan Purse has established a field hospital in Nassau with the aim of assisting the Public Hospitals Authority’s ongoing fight with the COVID-19 pandemic is welcome news, especially with the COVID-19 Dashboard recording over 5,600 confirmed infections in addition to 116 deaths.
According to The Tribune, Samaritan Purse will provide a 28-bed COVID-19 isolation and treatment centre.
The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team, I understand, will work in conjunction with Samaritan’s Purse.
Ironically, both relief organisations are headed by the “infamous fundamentalist” Franklin Graham.
What I find deeply disturbing and highly inappropriate about the aforementioned opinion piece was the timing of Front Porch’s broadside.
I stated last year in response to the columnist’s hit-piece that attacking Graham amounted to nothing more than biting the hand that feeds us and that an apology was in order.
Now approximately one year later, Mr Graham’s organisations are back in The Bahamas doing humanitarian work.
Meanwhile, Front Porch, to the best of my knowledge, has yet to acknowledge his wrongdoing in attacking the man for no legitimate reasons, other than the fact that Graham is an evangelical conservative.

Kevin Evans, first of all, "this hand" has never fed us. Like most churches and religious organizaions, they feed off of us. I consider muself left of your "liberals". I am 62. I have studied philosophy, religion, politics, economics, marine biology. I have managed a number of corporate businesses. Having read your opinions these last few years I would like to say a couple of things. You have thoroughly managed to take and twist the true Christian message, as most of the most outspoken so-called Christians so often do. I find there so little correlation between what you advocate for and my understanding of a loving natured God, that I would say, "stop Evans. You have missed the entire Christian message". Secondly, when I look at the problems facing humanity at present, I try and imagine where we go from here by looking at how we got here in the first place. Currently, it is clear we need new direction, a new vision. The views you have expressed these last few years scares me. I do not have the time to go into it, but suffice it to say that looking around the world at theocratic authoritarian regimes where the law is made and enforced by religious zealots is about the worst case scenario I can imagine. The world needs cooperation, understanding, tolerance and love. Mr. Evans, I would expect better from someone who professes so loudly and egotistically to understand the Word of God. In most everything I read of yours I am highly disappointed. You do a severe disservice to true Christianity. If I had to vote on the Bahamian nrwspaper contributor who has it wrong so consistently, I would vote for you.

I look forward to the day when religion gets consigned to the trash bin and we become more enlightened as a people. If you believe in a talking snake making a woman eat and apple and hence we all need salvation, there is something wrong with your brain.

Anyone who calls out right wing Christian fascists is OK with me. Well done Simon; keep calling the hypocrites hypocritical even as they grow fat on the tithes of their sheepists.
