PRIME Minister Dr Hubert Minnis told The Tribune on Thursday he has not tested positive for COVID-19.
Speaking from his home where he is under self-isolation, the prime minister said: “No, it is not true that I contracted COVID-19.”
However, he said his last COVID-19 test was taken last week which yielded a negative result. It is not clear when he will be retested.
Dr Minnis and several Cabinet ministers are in isolation after coming into contact with Works Minister Desmond Bannister, who tested positive for the disease.
The result was confirmed in a press statement Wednesday night from the Ministry of Works.
The statement said Dr Minnis and other Cabinet ministers will work from home and will be “fully engaged with their ministries” during the quarantine period.
Contact tracing is being carried out by the Ministry of Health’s Surveillance Unit, the statement said, adding that all established health protocols are being followed.
Mr Bannister was not present in the House of Assembly on Wednesday, however he did attend a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday and gave an interview to several reporters without a mask before going inside the building.
Earlier this month, Environment Minister Romauld Ferriera tested positive for the disease.

So if his test was done last weekend he had a cabinet meeting that involved Desmond Bannister on Tuesday (this week) his prior test results are now invalid.

To no one's surprise, Minnis is a complete idiot! How can this utter buffoon say he hasn't contracted the Chinese Virus when he hasn't been tested since last week!?

How can he say this if he admitted he has not been tested since exposure to Bannister?
What an idiot.

The similarities with Minnis and Donald Trump are they are both being battled from within their parties. And their comments and missteps on the battle veith the Corona pandemic sometimes feel unforgivable. Minnis as a medical doctor made some careless and costly missteps. The worst being the premature reopening of the borders . And the denial of Bahamians beach access during peak summer months when it was the only outing to thousands of children who have been home (shut in ) since March and will probably not see any school opening until January or maybe March of 2021. Think of the psychological consequences.

Mrs. Minnis and the persons in the house should be tested. The same testing applies to other spouses and persons in houses of politicans.

Mr. Minnis **as the doctor** knows the importance of being tested and retested, tested. One known COVID thing family should watch out for are long-term chances holding all kinds of strange and weird negative thoughts, which can seriously alter mood-changin' decision makin' - granted a maybe difficult spot in this man'?

Hopefully Mr. Bannister gets well soon. It's interesting that we hear how Bahamians are not listening and doing their own thing and that's why we're not getting the numbers down. Then we hear Mr. Bannister did an interview with reporters without a mask.
Why are more and more politicians testing positive? Given the PM's statements about the population, then some of these guys are going to parties.
