Philip 'Brave' Davis returns from U.S. after COVID treatment

ON his return to the country from COVID-19 treatment in the United States, Official Opposition Leader Philip “Brave” Davis said he remains deeply concerned that The Bahamas is not headed in the right direction.

Mr Davis gave brief remarks on Friday at Jet Aviation moments after his arrival. He was airlifted last month to a hospital where he received treatment for the deadly virus.

He said: “First of all, I want to give thanks to the Almighty Lord who has blessed us with healing and love and to all those whose prayers and well-wishes, sent from every corner of The Bahamas, covered and lifted up my family and me. With all our hearts, we thank you. Truly, God is good.

“Even while I was away, I never felt that far from home. Having family with me was a blessing – my daughters Philippa and Christina and others.

“Imagine my surprise to find out that the lead nurse in the hospital in Atlanta grew up in Andros. Bahamian roots, connecting all over the world.”

“We have our challenges in this country, but there’s so much that unites us,” Mr Davis continued. "When times are tough, we come through for each other. And things are extremely tough. We remain a nation in crisis.

“I’ve been in near-constant touch with my colleagues who I thank for not missing a beat in the important work that we are doing. We’re all deeply concerned that the country is not headed in the right direction. And we’re going to need to summon the best of this country to overcome these difficult times.

“So it’s back to work. I’ll have a lot more to say in the coming days. It’s wonderful to be back with Ann and the rest of our children. God bless you all. It’s so good to be home.”

If he was “brave,” he’d have been treated in Nassau, in the health care system he helped create. Philip “Craven” Davis is more accurate. Stop calling this coward “brave” — he isn’t, and that’s not his name.

Some years ago when he was robbed at gunpoint, after being asked how he handled the
situation by reporters ,he replied that they don't call him "Brave " for nothing. The truth of the
matter is that his late father was also called" Brave.",just passed on to him, just like his looks.

Think Brave will silently dissapear from front line politics before the next election. They say the Corona leaves long lasting scars on the body

Rejoice, we are surely all saved now...

I am certain that he will now swiftly introduce legislation to enable anyone who might be suffering from a serious medical condition to be able to fly to the US for treatment.

Lol. And who ga pay the tens of thousands needed?

I went to Cuba a few years ago. Treatment was superb and cost was way less than half of the US.

I'll never go to the US again.

I'm not about to forget the role that Davis and others like him have played in creating the conditions responsible for our nation's deplorable and dysfunctional healthcare system; a system that often kills rather than help heals those who have no choice but to subject themselves to it.

The captain goes down with his shop, this one jump off and now returns. When the captain of that cruise ship that went down a few years ago jump ship, he had to gac a judge for being a coward. If we were in America, his political career would be over for his treachery.

I am not a fan of Phillip Davis. But in his remarks on his return,he said something a lot of Bahamians don't know or discuss.

The head nurse on the floor at the hospital in Atlanta grew up in Andros. A lot of qualified nurses are migrating from the Bahamas. That is due in part to some of the policies and conditions he played a part in creating.

There has long been a shortage of nurses in the U.S., they are hiring them from all around the world — a lot of them from the Philippines. The pay is way better in Atlanta than Nassau, and it is far cheaper to live in Atlanta than Nassau.
