ANOTHER group of Cubans was recently intercepted off Anguilla Cay in the Cay Sal Banks by the United States Coast Guard and subsequently handed over to Bahamian authorities.
While conducting patrols last Wednesday, the United States Coast Guard discovered and picked up the group of Cubans from Anguilla Cay. They were subsequently handed over to HMBS Livingston Smith under the command of Senior Lieutenant Ricardo McQueen. The migrants were taken to New Providence on Thursday, April 1, and handed over to the relevant authorities.
The Cuban Embassy has since been notified.
This is the fourth group of Cubans to be apprehended recently, according to the RBDF. USCGC Charles Sexton apprehended several Cubans onboard a small wooden sailing vessel more than a week ago in the Cay Sal banks.
On Wednesday, March 3, six Cubans were taken aboard a US Coast Guard cutter after they were captured on Anguilla Cay, and on March 4, HMBS Durward Knowles spotted a capsized vessel in waters approximately three nautical miles south of Cay Sal and retrieved 13 Cubans, including a deceased male. The foreigners were all handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

Why don't we just deny them when the US turns them over? No sir, they're destination is the US, they're your problem...

I think it might have something to do with which country's waters they are intercepted in. Probably some ancient international maritime law or UN requirement etc.

That is what Mexico says about the thousands of migrants transiting through their Country on the way to the US.
You can have that attitude about The Bahamas lack of border enforcement but get ready for the reaction from the US.
Why not slap a visa requirement on Bahamians entering the US? You don't care about the US, they don't care about you.

The many many millions of dollars our government spends on defense force personnel and in equipping them really serves no purpose at all if it's always the US Coast Guard intercepting these illegal aliens on our behalf and in our territorial waters or on our more isolated islands.
The vast majority of these illegal aliens are headed to the US. Perhaps we should think about freeing them so they can resume their efforts to get into the US, especially if the US government is unwilling to help defray the cost of us detaining them pending their deportation.
