PRIME Minister Philip “Brave” Davis on Thursday announced stricter measures in response to rising cases of COVID-19, including a shorter testing window for inbound travellers.
Bahamians and visitors entering the country will be required to test negative within three days of departure, as opposed to five days. Beginning January 7, a negative PCR test will be required for all travellers entering the country.
Mr Davis also said effective immediately, the rules surrounding the size of gatherings have been adjusted. Indoor gatherings should not have more than 20 people while outdoor gatherings can have no more than 30 people.
It was also revealed on Thursday that Mr Davis is in quarantine after he came into contact with people who tested positive for COVID-19 following a family event last weekend.
While Mr Davis said he has been tested several times in recent days with negative results, his wife Ann Marie tested positive for the virus.
Speaking by video link from his place of isolation, Mr Davis said several people visiting from out town for the event tested positive for COVID-19 on their fifth day in the country.
He said despite his negative test result he would remain in quarantine, as it was the responsible thing to do.
Speaking of Mr Davis’ condition, Health Minister Dr Michael Darville said the prime minister and all of his relatives were doing well.
See Friday’s Tribune for more on this story.

... so 'Brave' attends a super-spreader "family event" that had several hundred people present, but now he wants to limit the size of gatherings for the rest of us! A typical example of rules for thee, but not for me!

Thing is.....a whole lot of his supporters believe wholeheartedly that he has a plan to keep them safe. He can't even keep himself safe. This is his second rodeo with covid.

I really hope you get paid to do this. Would be terrible to waste your life commenting on the Tribune without any reward. I'm sure your mommy has already told you that when she begged you to get a job and get out of the house.

This is worse than with Minnis...and it will do nothing to prevent Covid spreading in the population, as we already have an explosion in new cases

About 10 days ago right here I predicted Covid would kick the PLP square in the arse by mid-January, and here we are early for something for once, but it's NOT in a positive way!
**The horse has already left the barn!**
Had the government been watching the world, especially the Netherlands, they would have easily have seen this coming. This is the first time in the pandemic that I personally know of 5 people with covid. It is probably safe to guesstimate at least 20% of undiagnosed covid carriers are asymptomatic spreaders.
This is NOT where we want to be headed!

The Health Visa is bad enough to discourage tourists. There have been so many complaints how it suppresses tourism. Now we are back to the PCR test again where most people could not get tested, wait for the results and scan the documents to get a Visa in the five day period to arrive in Nassau. Soon we will not have a viable winter tourist season if all these rules keep piling on. People will either stay at home or go somewhere else which is far easier to enter.

The hotels are full, the cruise ships are back with full steam. Go walk down Bay St now and tell me again how the Health Visa is discouraging tourists.

Totally agree. It’s just a couple travel agents from New York and Ontario who keep whining about the visa when it is actually very simple and the few I have done took less than 30 minutes to get approved. Must be intellectually challenged. Who even uses travel agents these days…so 20th century. Maybe that’s their problem.

Be thank Minnis the Monster is out. He woukd have you locked in and curfewed.
Be glad you are not being compulsorily vaccinated.
Omicron will be better than the vaccine.
Stop the madness.

Um, Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine for itching and allergies. It's not an analgesic (painkiller), like Tylenol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen etc, which most people take for headaches, fever etc.
If you've ever personally wondered why your headaches don't go away after taking Benadryl, you now know why, lol.

Can anyone explain the benefit of a negative PCR beginning January 7? By then we will probably have more cases per inhabitant than the US.

Lets get back to business. heard florida is showing 27,000 positives per day and growing. be prepared because here it comes. All the time wasted over the past 2 years was simply a delay, not a cure. the end result is inevitable. May god's peace be with the Bahamas and the whole world. many more will die so make your peace you never know if you will be next.
