Cable Bahamas has named attorney Marylee L. Braynen-Symonette to its Board of Directors after a more than 20-year career in the Bahamian legal profession.
Franklyn Butler, the BISX-listed communications provider's president and chief executive, described Ms Braynen-Symonette's appointment as “more than fitting”. He said: “We are extremely pleased to have Ms Symonette join our team. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience from her career as an accomplished litigator, as well as her involvement in civic and community organisations.
"We are excited to take advantage of her wisdom as the Cable Bahamas group of companies seeks to navigate a constantly-changing digital landscape. We are always seeking to evolve and find new ways to thrive as an organisation. I am confident that Ms Symonette will prove to be a valuable asset in doing so.”
Ms Braynen-Symonette specialises in family and corporate law; civil litigation; and real estate, in addition to conveyancing, mortgages and contracts. She founded her own law firm Braynen-Symonette & Company, in 1999 where she currently holds the title of managing partner.
Ms Braynen-Symonette has served in an advisory capacity to several government agencies and private organisations since 2006, assisting with issues such as corporate restructuring and mergers.
Prior to her legal career she was employed with the Department of Social Services. Ms Braynen-Symonette received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from Northwestern College in 1991. She was called to The Bahamas Bar in 1997.
