Izaak Bastian and Seminoles defeat Tigers for first time

• Florida State ends 18-meet losing streak against SEC powerhouse Auburn

Izaak Bastian had a trio of first place finishes to help his No.16 ranked Floria State Seminoles defeat the No. 22 Auburn Tigers.

The 180-120 win was the first win for the Seminoles over Auburn in programme history and ended an 18 meet losing streak against the SEC powerhouse.

Individually, Bastian won the 100 yard Breaststroke in 54.56 seconds.

He also took first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:00.13.

In the 200 yard medley relay, Bastian teamed with Mason Herbet, Max McCusker and Jakub Ksiazek to finish first in 1:28.08.

FSU improved to 5-0 on the season.

“It was of course amazing to get the men’s first win over Auburn,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said on the school’s athletic website. “We had so many of our top guys out, so this win was even more special because it was a real team effort.”

It was the Seminoles’ second consecutive win over an SEC opponent this month following a 170.50 - 91.50 over LSU. His 200-yard medley relay team set a new site record in the event. He teamed with Mason Herbet, Domen Demsar and Peter Varjasi started to finish in 1:26.85 which surpassed the mark of 1:27.30 set by the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2018.

Individually, Bastian finished third in the 100 yard Breast in 55.32 and third in the 200 yard Breast in 2:00.26.
