Loretta should run

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I am compelled to raise a political question what if? What are the possibilities if Loretta Butler Turner had not left or moreso was excommunicated from the ranks of leadership of the FNM and had stayed in place avoiding the bad advice she was given to challenge the leadership of that party. I believe everything is based on exact divine timing. I am convinced if she were still in place, now would be the perfect timing for her to challenge the leadership and perhaps become the leader of that political entity.

I refer Loretta to take a google moment and see the rising tide of women around the world to political leadership positions, as close as ninety miles off our shores and especially women here in the Caribbean. Since I was not living in the Bahamas at the time of your challenge for the party leadership and have since come to learn of those persons attached to your camp were placed there to give advice (bad) and to “throw you off”, so that the leadership would go to anyone else other than yourself, assuring then that you would never attain that position, you should have been aware that the first rule in politics is to be sure of those persons you surround yourself with.

In my opinion I am not aware of another female who could stand up on stage and hold your own debating issues as well as yourself. None! Your early departure was a great loss to women, young girls, and the entire Bahamas. You had and still have so much to offer, politics is your DNA, unlike so many current aspirants who simply want to line the pockets of friends and close family members. Even if you decide not to return to the FNM, PLP, DNA you have a great chance as an independent candidate now is the time for you to relight that Milo Butler fire you inherited. Now is the time. Can’t you see the large amount of independent candidates... they are all reading the tea leaves and see the opportunity that awaits them. An independent candidate would become the power broker in a split house.

It is generally accepted that the voting population is fed up with both parties, you stand a better chance more than any of them of being successful. A candidate such as yourself and the other factions together would be a formidable force to reckon with in the House. My only concern with this scenario is fighting for position in a coalition government where nothing gets done. The only solution is to agree among themselves who and what position each is to take like allowing individuals to govern as the PM for a period of time then allowing another member to jump in. Run Loretta run. Loretta why not explore past financial backers, choose a new slate of advisors and see what happens. How about a simple survey to see how the people respond.

I sense now is the right time when there is great discord among the prime parties, most of them are on their backs, get in now while they are weak, it’s hard for them to fight when there is so much fighting among themselves. Fight them at their weakest point, when they are down. The opportunity is there and may never come again. Run Loretta run. The natives seem restless and are wanting change.

Loretta get in the fight you are still young, your daughter just returned home as a physician and until she gives you some grandchildren you have plenty of energy to give to your country. Your talent is so evident compared to the neophytes entering the arena, rescue our politics I am convinced only a feminine divine can put the Bahamas back on track to once again leadership position in the Caribbean. As my school mate the late Dr Myles Munroe opined “Die empty.” Your time is now, seize the time you may never have this opportunity again it’s all in perfect timing. Read the tea leaves. Run Loretta run.

The one thing lacking here in the Bahamas is female leadership, we had more female leadership here in these islands 50 years ago than we could ever imagine today. Women are the majority voters all they need is good leadership. You would get a great support from them, however a lot of them would not ever vote for a female. Chalk if off as female haters. I think you would be surprise the amount of support you would get from our male voters as well, they may not admit it but once in that booth a lot of them would think long and hard in giving a woman a chance. Us men have messed up things for so long. Women all over the world are taking up primary roles in forging ahead for the future of mankind. Run Loretta run.

You can beat them at their game, you need to become more perceptive. Read the tea leaves, become visionary. Imagine if. This time be careful of those traitors who set you up the first time. Timing was off. They were just concerned with their own selfish greed. It’s a new century woman are no longer confined to the kitchen, it’s a new day look around the world where ever women are in power those countries prosper. Become the feminine divine giving birth to a new generation of believers.

I know you were betrayed by those so-called “men” the night of convention who plotted your downfall, we all saw the disappointment in your face when you invited those men to join you on stage as a show of unity only one took you up on it, this would make any human being bitter and disgusted, but Loretta it is all in the perfect timing. Think on these things and if you decide to jump “in” with the right crew there would be no stopping you.

Who is this PhD person?? ........... He needs to visit Long Island and talk to people who she represented in the House of Assembly for 5 years (2012-17) and ask to see her legacy projects.

She was more light than heat ........... Don't be fooled by the fluff and smooth talk Dr. Pinder.

Ask Papa why he took her out of the safest NP seat and sent her to Long Island ....... SMH

Loretta had problems everywhere she went. Montague, as one pointer posted out above, is one of the safest FNM seats in Nassau besides St. Anne's, and the people there got very tired of here shtick by the time 2012 rolled around. Same thing with Long Island, they were ready to give her the boot by 2017.

For all of his faults, Minnis is still a far better leader (which isn't saying much) than Loretta would have been. The fact that she even launched that little coup attempt in the House while she had little support in the party ranks speaks volumes to her lack of political acumen. Despite what some posters here may suggest, we can very easily end up with a worse PM than Minnis.

Even with all of her flaws, there's no way LBT could have been a worse PM than Minnis has been. With hindsight our country would have been so much more better off had LBT, and the dissident MPs who supported her, succeeded in their "little coup attempt" as you call it.

Dr.Minnis is simply terrible as prime minister. Compared to Mia Mottley, Andrew Holness and Dr.Keith Rowley, he is simply out of their league. .

He survives primarily because the opposition party the PLP is viewed and branded as corrupt. He also enjoys the support of a large section of an unsophisticated media and populace.

However leaders emerge and may surprise people in their performance. Two very examples of that from history are Sir Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln.

Bahamians have this "gift" of pulling down our own ....... but look at the conditions in those countries that Bonefish is touting ........ We can have worst than Minnis (we had worse - Christie).

If we leave blind partisan politics out of the conversation, can we really HONESTLY say that Minnis is as bad as Christie OR the last TEN years of Pindling???

HONESTLY, the grossly incompetent, arrogant, nasty, corrupt and vindictive Minnis has without a shadow of doubt proven himself to be the worse PM ever.

Tribanon .......... you have a vendetta ......... you cannot be serious.

Look at HOW international ratings agencies and other bodies view The Bahamas pre/post 2017 .......... Cannot compare Christie & Minnis and their supporting casts ........ Minnis is (hands down) better than Christie .... One word that separates them (NYGARD)

If you're hanging a FNM election victory on that one word 'Nygard', Davis and the PLP party elite are sure to win, unless of course most voters support the suitably qualified independent candidate who runs in their constituency.
