Davis is a man for all seasons

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Many Bahamians often wonder about my politics. Some say that I am an FNM while others say that I would die the death of a thousand cuts to preserve and promote the Hon Philip ‘Brave’ Davis, QC, (PLP-Cat Island). Whatever my political preference maybe, there are a few members of the House of Assembly, whom I support regardless of party labels.

The Hon Shannendon Cartwright (FNM-St Barnabas) is definitely one of them. Brother Cartwright has done a wonderful job at representing the good people and residents of St Barnabas over the last four years. He demonstrates empathy and solidarity with his constituents regardless of political affiliation.

The New PLP is sending another good young Bahamian, the Hon Michael Halkitis up against brother Cartwright. This may well prove a problem for the constituents who are torn between the New PLP due to traditional party loyalty and with the stellar representation provided by Cartwright. They are both dedicated individuals who are committed to good representation.

Dr Cartwright is also to be commended on the great job that he has done as Chairman of Beaches & Parks. The majority of those, especially here in New Providence are well kept and maintained. Green spaces are popping up all over the place and I am particularly impressed and pleased with the Edmund Moxey Park adjacent to the National Insurance Board Building on Blue Hill Road.

Recently, Cartwright was recognised by Pierce University, his alma mater over in the USA by being awarded an honoree doctor of laws degree so he is now Dr Cartwright! This is fitting and it is hoped that even thou it has been said that a prophet has no honour in his own country that this will not apply to Shannendon. Congratulations and continue to do well. Truly, he is a man for all seasons.

What is new about the PLP this time round. It's still pretty much being run by the same people as before.

The man spent a whole article gushing about Shannendon Cartwright and you focus on one parenthetical sentence. Unbelievable.
