Ingraham: Facebook post was not mine

FORMER Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham said a Facebook page bearing his name urging people to “vote FNM” is not his account.

Yesterday several Facebook posts were made from a page bearing the name, “The Right Honourable Hubert A Ingraham”. The posts, bearing the FNM’s logo and party colours, said, “Vote FNM. It’s About Your Future” and “On Election Day Look for the Torch. It’s About Your Future”.

Mr Ingraham said he has no such account and he was not the person who posted those messages.

“I have no Facebook account,” Mr Ingraham said. “I had one years ago and the same was hacked a long time ago. So that is not me.”

The page in question states it is administered by a “supporter” of Mr Ingraham and not him personally.

Some years ago, Mr Ingraham reported the matter to Facebook when he had been contacted by many people saying friend requests were sent to them from him or messages asking them what they thought about sovereign funds.

In the past, Cabinet ministers have complained about their social media pages being hacked and those matters were soon rectified.

Mr Ingraham has been in the spotlight recently after endorsing Elizabeth incumbent Dr Duane Sands while joining him on the campaign trail.

Dr Sands resigned as minister of health last year over a controversy surrounding permanent residents being allowed entry to the country from a plane carrying COVID-19 test swabs. Prior to his resignation there had been rumours of a tumultuous relationship between him and Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis.

Speaking about the Elizabeth incumbent, Mr Ingraham said recently: “He’s had a similar experience I had. I used to be a minister before, I got fired, I got elected to the House, and I became prime minister. Hopefully, he can have the same experience.”

This is a crazy story. Why do these people need to use Ingraham's name? Are they that desperate?
Also, it's interesting that HAI is going out of his way to deny that he's urging people to vote FNM.
Politics in this country is really crazy. SMH
Covid has already won anyway!

Ingraham has more integrity in his big toe than what can currently be found in the entirety of the FNM right now. He knows full well that this current administration has no care for the principles of transparency and accountability that he strove so hard to create in the Bahamian government. I wouldn't expect him to back the PLP with red shirts.

Funny indeed that he says I didnt send that note of support but nothing to say I do support. I really really hope that some investigative reporter is able to get the behind the scenes story on what happened at the council level. Why didnt the FNM have a convention? It would have done one of two things, get rid of an incompetent and unsupported leader or reinforce the position of the current leader. Eitger way tge FNM could have gone into the election as a united force. But for 3 years they just kept whistling by the graveyard saying what dead bodies?
