In a concession speech released by the FNM, outgoing Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis has thanked Bahamians for the last four years:
“Tonight I spoke with Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party Philip Davis and offered my congratulations to him and his party on their victory at the polls,” Dr Minnis said.
“I offered him my best wishes as his Government now faces the continued fight against COVID-19, and the restoration of our economy.
“I would like to thank the tens of thousands of Bahamians from across The Bahamas who voted for Free National Movement candidates. I also congratulate the FNM candidates who won seats in the House of Assembly.
“I am in that number, and again my gratitude goes out to the people of Killarney for making me their representative for the fourth consecutive time.
“I will lead the Free National Movement into the House as the leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition. The Bahamas has a proud democratic tradition. The people decide who serves as government.

Win or lose this looks like the people telling Dr Minnis what the council wouldnt tell him.
When FNMs were walking around confident that nobody would put the "corrupt" PLP back in power. Said over and over again they were misreading the data. As horrible as the PLP did last time, 45%+ of the population voted for them.
Added to that, DNA's and disillusioned PLPs voted FNM.
Added to that the number of FNMs asking what Minnis doing and asking for a leadership change was increasing. I predicted before COVID that FNMs would not show up to vote if the council did not remove Minnis
All bad news for the FNM.
i hope the results whichever side they fall on lead MPs to stop this Renward Wells style gushing and praising of whatever nonsense the PM does. Call a spade a spade. We will have a better country and the people you represent will thank you for representing them well
The next thing that needs to happen in the FNM, anyone who advised Minnis to hold this election needs to resign. Anyone who resisted removing Minnis needs to resign. Tonight.
It looks like the people will take care of the MPs who told us the results we got over the past 4 years was manner from heaven. The cost of sitting silent for 4 years.

Five years ago the FNM was making the same type of remarks you are making right now. . .governance do not stop. . .Davis made many promises. Very few in that party would have listened to anybody. . .therein is their biggest "shooting in the foot" behaviour!!
This election was not one of "I want them". . .but one of "I een want them"!!
The FNM made a mess of things way before the election. . .yes! Just try and "advise" you party to "don't drop the ball". . .the fight een over yet. . .THE ECONOMIC WAR IS STILL GOING ON! This will turn south on yinna behinds in no time flat if yinna get back to yinna old ways!! Word to the wise!!
Just get to geverning and leave the dumb stuff for the FNM them to say. . .after all een that what the losers them do? We have a new government. . .get to work and shut ya mouth!! By the way, good luck to OUR new government!! THERE IS TOO MUCH WORK TO DO THAN TO BE TALKING JUNK WITH YOU!

@This Is Ours... the thrice married power hungry philanderer who sided with LBT when he thought it would benefit him and then sided with Minnis and is heavily supported by the Bay St Boys and wa involved in the Swabgate scandal, lacks the character this country needs in a leader (Brave doesn't have it either IMO). Bahamians seem not to be able to distinguish a persons image (what they project they are) from their character (who they actually are) and for this one reason we will continue to get goosied by corrupt egotistical grifters!

Simply confirms that Bahamians vote against, not for.
In the context of Hurricanes and Covid this administration had an uphill battle, and screwed up quite a bit in the process in their own right. But as long as Bahamians vote tribally we will flip flop, and continue to vote against personal arrogance. Neither party has reached beyond their loyal base or internal pecking order to elicit viable solutions to National issues.
the appointments and positions awarded will tell us in short order if it is indeed a "new day" or the same old. One can hope.

Ha!! Ha!!! Look Lincoln Bain tried all he could to persuade the Bahamian people with the bait on the fish hook strategy! That is nothing more than a ploy to attract thirsty hungry people who are going thru extremely hard times. THAT'S CALLED TAKING ADVANTAGE OF SITUATION WITH PEOPLE! Do you know who gets caught on those fishing line. Hungry desperate people who have lost hope and faith. I call it **The Jim Jones Guyana Tragedy Syndrome** and it seems that Lincoln and Arinthia practice that with voters but only a small of the smallest fell into the snags of those things. First one must congratulate Brave Davis and the PalP. For it was no easy or ordinary feat they accomplished by winning with such a landslide victory. Davis resisted the temptation to match Minnis and the FNM with gutter politics and obviously it put the PLP in favor with the Bahamian people. Brave must understand his honeymoon with the Bahamian people will be short because many are still in need of basic essentials like bread and water. Everyone will admit it took a miracle to sway the Bahamian people in a wave and into a brand new day and it will take even more miracles and prayers to deliver the country from its current conditions. No Ine can envy Brave and his new government as their task is not easy.

Oh well, can't say I didn't do my best to try steer voters away from their two-party mindset. Quite a few of the independent candidates would have helped provide a much better mix in parliament without the risk of Minnis not getting the spanking that he so fully deserved.
But thank God Minnis is at least no longer PM. Having pure evil remain mixed-in with corruption and incompetence would have been the absolute worst of all possible outcomes yesterday.
