Three murders in 24 hours

THE country’s murder count rose to 74 on Friday after three men were killed in separate homicides less than 24 hours apart.

Eight people have been killed since Sunday.

The latest murder took place before 3pm Friday near Shirley Street where a man was shot dead while driving in the area. The deceased was said to be in his early 30s.

“The information is that the vehicle was approaching the Shirley Street junction when another vehicle pulled up alongside of it and an occupant came on the side of that vehicle, hitting the driver and he succumbed to his injuries,” Police Superintendent Audley Peters told reporters on the scene.

The killing came hours after two men were fatally shot in different communities Thursday.

In the first incident, police said a man was standing on a sidewalk in the Washington Street area when he was approached by two armed men.

The men fired shots in his direction, fatally wounding him.

“Officers were dispatched (and) on their arrival , they discovered an adult male lying face down on an eastern sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds,” police said.

“The victim was examined by the Emergency Medical technician who visited the scene. They later determined that there were no signs of life.”

Police said a second shooting happened on Rupert Dean Lane the same night.

Responding, officers found a man slumped over at his home’s entrance in the area.

Police said he had been shot several times about the body by a lone gunman as he was approaching his home.

The killings come as police continue their investigations into a series of homicides this week.

One of those killings took place in Grand Bahama, where a man was stabbed to death at a local bar on Wednesday.

The same day, a man was shot dead in the Pinedale area.

The murders followed a fatal stabbing and two shooting incidents that took place in New Providence between Monday and Tuesday.

The recent rash of homicides have reignited calls for more to be done to tackle the escalating crime rate in the country.

Last month, National Security Minister Wayne Munroe told parliament that there was an 18 per cent overall rise in crime in the country.

According to Mr Munroe, many of the victims murdered this year were alleged offenders who had been released on bail.

According to statistics released by the Royal Bahamas Police force last year, there were 60 murders recorded up to June 30 2021, representing a 62 percent increase from the year before.

“There were 55 murders in New Providence, four in Grand Bahama and one in the Family Island’s district with an overall solvency rate of 55 per cent,” the report read.

During the same period in 2020, 37 homicides were confirmed by police.

However, the murder count for this year now stands at 74, according to this newspaper’s records.

Is Wayne Munroe an abject failure as Minister of National Security or is there a force now operating in the country that has become unrelenting and unstoppable, when it comes to murder? The rapid and repeated and consistent killing of young males in the country. For one, many Bahamians are becoming curious of the ‘news releases’ put out almost immediately following the killings about the murdered victims. These posts are always slanderous and attempt to justify the killing even gloatingly. Celebrating the death of young Bahamians or attempting to tie them to crimes in an unusual sort of way. Some organization that is definitely anti/Bahamian. And then there are the parting words of the retiring Commissioner of Police. They are definitely no Swan Song.

At your house I bet. Killing young, black men cannot stop prophecy. Judgment is coming regardless of how many are in the grave. See what is happening in America today. Even the White House is unsecured and judges are now requiring armed bodyguards. And it is not Black people who are uprising. In fact most Black folk have indicated that when the civil unrest begins, not only will they stand down, but they will flee the country if they have to. Let the Great Americans fight their own battle. Arm yourselves and be prepared to protect yourself against teen nigg**s, they said, but the nigg**s running in the opposite direction.. AWAY!

I remember the days when 45 murders per year was considered bad.

And I'm old enough to remember less than 30 murders per year. But those were the days long before the influx of illegal Jamaican nationals, and well before the most notorious of Jamaica's infamous hit squads decided to set up a branch of its regional operations here in The Bahamas.

Coward Davis like his predecessors, and the RBPF, will do absolutely nothing to prevent what's going on because of their great personal fear of being 'targeted' for interference in what has grown to become a very lucrative 'business' in our part of the world. I'm frankly surprised we do not have kidnappings for ransom, but I guess that's seen to be a much riskier 'business' today compared to what it was in countries like Trinidad years ago.

You continue to advance this narrative about Jamaicans being involved in crime and executions in The Bahamas. But the facts do not support your claim. How many Jamaicans were brought before the courts for murder in the last year, five years, decade? Who are you attempting to deflect responsibility from? Jamaica ( and a number of other Caribbean countries) has the same problem The Bahamas has with hundreds of young, Black men being slaughtered. So are you going to Jamaica and say it’s the Bahamians who are committing the murders in that country.? And NO, it didn’t start with illegal Jamaicans in this e, it started veith Americas FAKE War on Drugs! First they blamed the Colombians for the murders, then the illegal Haitians or the ones born here but without status. Now the Jamaicans. The false flags of committing heinous acts of crime and violence and attempting to blame another peoples or other countries for the acts. But Bahamians are waking up. Jamaicans are waking up, Trinidad and Turks and Cacios are no longer asleep. Haiti too. The Revealation is at hand as who is responsible for four decades of unceasing killings in theses countries. And firstly, the war and bloodshed that this common enemy was trying to create between these countries will be avoided. And secondly these countries will find ba way to deal with the enemy. Not in a tit for tat kind a way. It may mean having to throw their money in the streets and refusing to do other than essential commerce with this country.

Heard about the young , Black driver in the US who was chased and shot over 60 time by eight police officers? .
.
Who killed the 21 children in the night club in South Africa? They were having a party to celebrate the end of the school year. Then all of a sudden the air being filled with a strange odor. Persons could not breathe . Some managed to escape but twenty one , the youngest one 13 died. And death was so swift and sudden, some died on the dance floor. Others were sprawled across tables or still sitting. Is this a new bio weapon being tested?

Sadly we rank each year way above the U.S. in the murders per capita ranking by country. Hard to believe, but true.
