Man bailed in drugs and firearm case

A MAN was granted bail in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday for drug and firearm related charges.

Thomas Minnis, Jr, 26, who was represented by Wendawn Miller-Frazer stood before Senior Magistrate Samuel McKinney on five charges.

Minnis was charged with possession of a dangerous firearm, ammunition, component parts of a firearm, and drugs with intent to supply. He also faced a charge of money laundering.

On May 9 in New Providence, Minnis was arrested after he was found with a green Smith & Wesson .40 pistol, serial number NVT272, 10 unfired .40 rounds of ammunition and 9mm magazine without a licence. Authorities also caught the suspect with an alleged eight ounces of Indian Hemp as well as $593 believed to be the proceeds of crime.

In court, Minnis pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The magistrate then granted him $7,500 bail with one surety. As a condition of his bail Minnis is expected to report to the Wulff Road Police Station every Wednesday and Friday before 6pm.

Minnis’ trial was adjourned to June 9.
