FOUR men were arraigned in Magistrate’s Court yesterday on separate drug charges.
Dino Lafleur Jr, 20, represented by Ian Cargill, along with Omar Atkinson, 21, and Ashton Wilson, 20, all stood before Senior Magistrate Samuel McKinney on a shared charge of possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.
At 5.30pm on May 26 police acting on a warrant searched 40 Cowpen Road where the three accused were present. There they found suspected drugs in a bedroom on a dresser and contained in a black and red sneaker box in a plastic wrap and six foil wrappings.
These drugs were later positively identified as a collective 25 grams of Indian Hemp.
In a subsequent interview, Lafleur admitted to solely owning the drugs for his own personal use.
In court, Lafleur pleaded guilty to the charge while the remaining accused pleaded not guilty.
In view of this, the magistrate ordered Lafleur to pay a fine of $500 or risk three months in custody.
Both Atkinson and Wilson were discharged.
Marvin Bodie, 52, of Mason Addition, also stood before Magistrate McKinney on drug possession charges with intent to supply.
On May 28 at his residence, Bodie was arrested after he was found with 12.3 oz of Indian Hemp.
In court, he pleaded guilty, telling the court he bought the drugs for $350 for his personal use. He further explained that he and his brothers are Rastafarians who smoke regularly.
The accused also alleged that during his arrest officers threatened to arrest his whole family for the drugs, including his mother.
The magistrate ordered Bodie to pay a $800 fine or risk four months in custody.
