A MAN was granted $7,500 bail in court yesterday after being accused of having a loaded pistol in New Providence last week.

Michael Johnson, Jr, 33, appeared before Magistrate Shaka Serville on charges of possession of an unlicenced firearm and possession of ammunition. Johnson also faced two counts of possession of dangerous drugs.

It is alleged that on January 26, police arrested the accused after he was found with a black G2C 9mm pistol with the serial number erased. He is also accused of having 12 unfired rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Johnson was also found with marijuana, police allege.

In court the defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges. He was granted bail, but ordered to sign in at Elizabeth Estates Police Station every Monday and Friday by 7pm.

The trial in this matter is set to begin on March 27.
