NORTH Abaco MP Kirk Cornish’s trial for alleged rape and physical assault against his ex-girlfriend is set to begin on April 29, 2024.
Cornish pleaded not guilty to charges of rape, assault and threats of death last week.
He is accused of raping a 35-year-old woman on two separate occasions and threatening to kill her while in New Providence on April 4.
He also allegedly assaulted her in Cooper’s Town on January 20 and then again on March 25.
Owen Wells, Cornish’s attorney, sought to expedite his trial and requested the earliest date possible.
Justice Renae McKay set MP Cornish’s trial to begin on April 29, 2024, during which time his $9,000 bail will continue.
Cornish’s next case management date is December 6.
Timothy Bailey will serve as prosecutor.
