THE government will start relocating the Road Traffic Department later this year, according to Transport Minister Jobeth Coleby-Davis.
She said the department’s headquarters will be housed in a building next to the now-closed Mario’s Bowling and Entertainment Centre off Tonique Williams-Darling Highway.
She said the current location of the department is unfit.
“We’ve found a location, and we’re working on the renovations for that location,” she said, noting the Ministry of Works is monitoring the project. She could not say when the new location would be ready, but anticipates it could be by the start of the new year.
The department was previously located in the Clarence A Bain Building, which was demolished in 2020. The headquarters then moved to the Thomas A Robinson National Stadium. However, workers have repeatedly complained about poor working conditions at the facility.

Of course it is. This is how kickbacks and cronyism work in this country. We went real estate from former politicians and numbers crooks while the property owned by the govt rots and is not maintained.

Would it not be good for the country if we were told how much the annual rent and maintenance fee is, who the beneficial owner of the company that owns the rental space is, and just how much the beneficial owner donated to which political parties candidates in the last and next elections?
