A MAN has been charged after a viral video captured an incident in which a couple claimed they were assaulted by their Airbnb host while vacationing in The Bahamas.

The couple alleged the host attacked them with a two-foot double-edged sword. Police officers were also seen in the video.

Police have reported that a 34-year-old man, Jan-viraj Biere, from Coral Harbour Road, has been arraigned before the Magistrate Court on a charge of assault with a deadly instrument. The alleged incident occurred on August 7.

On August 12, the sitting magistrate granted bail in the amount of $5,000 with specific conditions. The defendant must report to the Western Police Station every Wednesday and Sunday by 6pm. The case has been adjourned to September 19, 2024.

Is this the same guy who posted this?

Jan - Viraj Biere is a master in yoga, breath meditation, martial arts and kundalini meditation and uses this for the psilocybin treatment. Meditation and psilocybin trips are a powerful combination and help to cure mental diseases such as anxiety, addiction and ptsd. Jan has practiced meditation since he was 12 years old with karate and vedic meditation.

We use 3 different types of magic mushrooms. We currently use the cubensis B+, the azurescens and the cyanescens.

Just to be clear, are these mushrooms legal? I'm guessing he didn't have PTSD, right? There are studies showing positive effects of psychedelic drugs. This case doesn't help that argument.

What happened to not officially rushin' to act on an incident captured 'on viral video' without first calling in New Scotland Yard -- Yes?

Two thoughts --

1. Mushroom farm -- umm, magic mushrooms?
2. Why do visitors choose rentals in non-tourist areas? Had to talk one couple out of a "perfect" place they found off Fire Trail Road when they wanted to spent their time on the beach, shopping in downtown and visiting Atlantis -- and didn't plan to rent a car! We need to do a better job at policing these AirBnB ads that are misleading/ "near Cable Beach" can be 5 miles away!

While everyone should be safe in their home or rental, we know the reality is very differnt. Yet, another bad portrayal of the Bahamas in the international press. We need to do better!

Much bigger other case's CID question has to be -- Even if no charges are brought and the presumption of innocence prevails --- There's still the question of -- **How can/will --- ???**

I only use these kinds of Airbnb services if the host is not there. Rent the entire place.
