Gaming Board building on West Bay St demolished

Tourism Minister Chester Cooper said the government felt the Gaming Board building on West Bay Street should no longer sit there in a derelict manner as demolition began yesterday.

“Goodman’s Bay will be enhanced as a result of getting rid of this building. It will be more aesthetically pleasing for residents who traverse this area. Women who walk in the mornings in particular through these areas will be pleased to see that this has become a green space, rather than a derelict structure.”

He added: “We’ve consulted broadly and widely with historians, as well as the AMMC. We are sure not to take any actions as it relates to buildings without consultation. So they were very comfortable with the process and we continue to work closely with them on all of the buildings that we have demolished in the downtown area.”

They need to enhance Bain Town, East St, Market St, Blue Hill Road and Wulff Road, Fox Hill, Bernard Road and make the entire area beautiful and greenspace dense like Central Park so the women walking there could feel comfortable. That would be "*Urban Renewal*"

We need to stop these myths and deceptions we perpetrate to our people so foreign interests can take our beaches and private islands

Just be careful they don’t t’ief Goodmans Bay and sell it to foreigners. A company is already talking about purchasing the property on the Eastern side of Goodmans Bay and developing a hotel property. Government should retain ownership of both of these properties and extend Goodmans Bay and enhance it. Don’t get hoodwinked again Bahamains

Its time to extend Goodmans bay west ward and eastward to the boundary of the Wynn property. Demolish and landscape the property where those two dilapidated houses are located. Don not let Mr Wynn build no hotel there. If that happens Goodmans bay will be restricted one day from Bahamians.
