A FATHER of one on bail for murder was one of three men killed in separate incidents less than 24 hours apart, pushing the murder tally for the year to 14.
The killings came after the Davis administration released its crime plan and a National Day of Prayer event was held in response to the soaring murder rate.
Yesterday’s second killing happened around 12pm at the intersection of Village and Parkgate Roads.
Zoey Brown, the victim’s cousin, identified him as Jason Emmanuel Alou Lamm, 24. Ms Brown told The Tribune it felt as if her world came to an end when Lamm was killed because the two grew up together like siblings.
Police said Lamm was driving a small Japanese vehicle when the occupants of a white Japanese car pulled alongside him and opened fire, shooting him multiple times.
Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings told reporters Lamm’s murder case was scheduled to begin on Monday.
Ms Brown said Lamm never expressed fear for his life. She described him as loving, family-oriented, and funny.
She said he leaves behind a one-year-old child.
“The only thing I want is justice for my cousin,” she said. “Because he did not deserve this.”
A gruesome video of Lamm’s final moments was circulated on social media, showing him in the street, calling out for his mother as blood dripped from him.
Yesterday’s second incident happened around 11.20 am.
The screams of grieving relatives rippled through the Pineyard Road area after gunshots rang out. A concerned resident checked the southern boundary of their property and found an unresponsive man through a track road.
CSP Skippings said the man was in his early 20s and not known to police.
“You need to come forward and provide us with the intel so that we can remove the weapons from the streets,” she said in a message to parents aware of their children’s criminal activity. “Failure to do so, the carnage will continue. It can affect your home. It may be somebody else’s loved one today, tomorrow, or even later today, it could be your own.”
On Tuesday night, a man was killed in Dundas Town, Abaco. Relatives identified him as Ceion Davis, 38.
Shortly after 7pm, police were alerted by a concerned citizen to gunshots in the vicinity of Latter Rain Way. Police responded and found Ceion with multiple gunshot injuries on the road.
Meanwhile, Free National Movement deputy leader Shanendon Cartwright said the country is in a crime crisis.
“The Davis Administration’s response to the surge in crime has been underwhelming, with the national address and crime plan falling short of the expectations of an anxious public,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The cousin said he never expressed fear for his life.....a man out on bail for murder? Guess he, like the others, felt invincible.

I dont think know if they feel invincible, maybe partly. I think these guys are traumatized. If life plays out and you get to an old age you will by laws of nature start to lose people around you. That is traumatic. I cannot and dont want to know what it feels like to day in and day out hear about another one of my friends getting killed. It doesnt really matter if they brought on themselves, the mental trauma must be tremendous. These guys really never had a chance, they dont know how deep they are probably until they're dying. Most of us dont have to worry about getting stabbed in the abdomen at 13 if we refuse to join a gang.
Theres one other time I heard a grown man running in fear calling out for his mother, he was bloody and trying to get away from the neighbourhood drug dealer. This was in the drug era. It was a very very sad thing to witness.

Yup, bafdling, you are out on bail for murder , but you think you can take pics with your child like nothing happened. These boys are detached from reality and disillusioned. You can't kill someone and live a normal life.

The amount of crime/murder in this small country is atrocious. There are cities with millions of people that only have a fraction of the murder cases that the Bahamas has. Hong Kong has 7.5 Million people and only had 30 murders in 2022. Meanwhile the Bahamas only has 6% of the population of Hong Kong but already almost 50% of their yearly murder cases in just the first 3 weeks of the year.
The murder rate here is comparable to a warzone. Put cameras everywhere, there shouldn't be anywhere for killers to be out of sight. But the real cause is cultural and more difficult to fix.

Guess the thoughts and prayers ain't working....
As for the post complaing the Tribune keeps using "out on bail" -- well maybe that person should NOT have been out on bail to begin with. Usually innocent people don't' need bail.
Time to do 3 strikes and you're out -- life in prison with no parole. Put a ong term prison on a remote southern island and get these criminals out of society for good. No sympathy for the little gang bangers -- that's the life you chose, so deal with the consequences. Time to stop putting innocent people in harm's way by coddling these criminals.

These young men today and a lot of society for one, have no relationship with the Almighty Father, your last words is calling for Mommy, no, you should be asking the Father for forgiveness for your sins and asking to join him in the eternity. Sorry, but mommy can't help you now. The Bahamas is a Christian nation, yea right, you can fool man, but you can't fool God.
