President Joe Biden pulls out of reelection bid

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race for the White House on Sunday, ending his bid for reelection following a disastrous debate with Donald Trump that raised doubts about his fitness for office just four months before the election.

The decision comes after escalating pressure from Biden's Democratic allies to step aside following the June 27 debate, in which the 81-year-old president trailed off, often gave nonsensical answers and failed to call out the former president's many falsehoods.

Biden plans to serve out the remainder of his term in office, which ends at noon on Jan. 20, 2025.

"It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," Biden wrote in a letter posted to his X account.

He did not immediately throw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris, the party's instant favorite for the nomination at its August convention in Chicago.

Dude only two weeks ago said he wasn't going anywhere. He called oppositions charge that democrats did not want him, foolishness. He called their remarks, baseless. He said the demo rats loved him. Now, the truth comes out. For years his opposition said he was deteriorating and people called it fake news. Now, the world got to see the "fake news". God bless you, Mr. Biden.

As Vice President, Kamala Harris has two major accomplishments to run on and only two. She is a female and she is African American. Time will tell if those two are enough to carry the day.

Joe Biden did say he would only quit the race only if he heard from God Almighty himself. And so maybe Biden saw the hand writing on one wall. No , not just the handwriting, but the hand writing. And with only four months to go, will BIDEN’s stepping dow put the Democrats in such a split and disarray throng to decide on who the candidates for president and Vice President should be that the election will catch the Democrats ‘with no oil in their lamps.’ And if Trump is elected, despite all the trials and hurdles he had to endure and cross, it doesn’t necessarily mean a Trump presidency will be great for America or for the world. And Biden’s health:old age issues may even escalate beyond the point of no return even before the election.
