POLICE Commissioner Clayton Fernander said police believe recent murder victims were targeted and that two of the incidents were connected.
At least seven people have been murdered since Thursday.
During a press conference yesterday, Commissioner Fernander said the shootings were not random.
He said some victims were on bail, but could not recall which.
His press conference came just hours after a woman was found lying dead in the street just west of Roker’s Service Station with multiple stab wounds to her body. Her suspected boyfriend is in custody after what police said was a domestic matter.
Commissioner Fernander said up to a few weeks ago, police believed they detected more than 70 percent of murders. He said that the rate has dropped to the low-to-mid 60s after the recent murders.
He said evidence suggests the July 16 murder of Neil Miller is connected to the July 18 double homicides of Jamie Tynes and Adrian Edgecombe. He said the motive for the double homicide is unclear, but did not want to specify how the two incidents might be connected.
Police have released two wanted posters for murder suspects.
“We are viewing our strategy with a view of boosting up our presence out there,” Commissioner Fernander said.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Zhivago Dames renewed his call for people to give police access to their surveillance systems.
“Once again, we are pleading to you,” he said. “You have an opportunity now to assist the Royal Bahamas Police Force in solving some of these matters, and one of the major ways that you can do that is by registering your cameras with the Royal Bahamas Police Force.”
“We once again assure you that that information that comes to us, we no longer have to come into your residence to retrieve that information. You can send that information to us via the system that we are using.”

.
Is that the same as telling Bahamians to sign their own death warrant? This commissioner needs to allow a commission to be appointed to investigate the police force and determine if the allegations that police are involved in some of the decades long and hundreds of murders. Were they using hit men and passing on confidential information? What about the fact that police involved shootings:killings have declined over 80 percent since the coroner’s court reconvened. That’s like 10-22 less persons the police are killing young, Black Bahamian men every year. Is the police now using others to ‘do the job?’ Bahamians should not allow this clear opportunity for the police force to be fully investigated and rogue and crooked and even killer cops to be brought to Justice *
