THE Bahamas Scholastic Athletic Association completed its annual track and field meet on Friday at the original Thomas A Robinson Track and Field Stadium with Genesis Academy emerging as this year’s champions.
Genesis Academy accumulated a total of 907 points to be crowned the champions with Greenville Preparatory Academy trailing with 845 as the runners-up. The consolation third place went to Teleos Christian Scholl with 818 or third.
The remaining schools in order of finish were Novble Preparatory Academy with 567, Kingsway Academy with 417, San Pedro International School with 250, Akhepran International School with 231, Freedom Baptist Academy with 76, Boost Academy with 49, Lighthouse Preparatory Academy with 39 and Westminster College in the final spot with 17.
Greenville Preparatory Academy took the primary school division with 407. Their nearest rivals were Genesis Academy with 389, Akhepran International School had 85, San Pedro International School with 71, Freedom Baptist Academy with 40 and Lighthouse Preparatory Academy rounded out the field with nine.
And in the senior division, Teleos Christian School captured the title with 640 points, followed by Noble Preparatory Academy with 557, Genesis Academy with 518;l Greenville Preparatory Academy with 438; San Pedro International School with 179; Akhepran International School with 146, Boost Academy with 49, Freedom Baptist Academy with 36, Lighthouse Preparatory Academy with 30, Westminster College with 17 and Kingsway Academy with six.
According to Emmerick Taylor, the association’s secretary general, the meet was a very competitive one.
“The kids came out ready and the coaches were excited sbout this experience,” Taylor said. “Genesis Academy showed that they were the powerhouses overall. I think we had a great meet with 11 schools participating.”
The association is now preparing for their annual soccer competition and then they will conclude the calendar year with beach volleyball.
