A MAN was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after admitting to possessing a loaded gun in his Bain Town home last weekend.

Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley arraigned 27-year-old Mario Newbold, alongside Rashad Newbold, 29, and two juvenile females, aged 17 and 14, on charges of possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.

Mario Newbold was arrested at his Hutchinson Street residence, where police found a 9mm pistol and ten rounds of ammunition.

He was the only defendant to plead guilty. The charges against them were subsequently dropped.

Newbold was sentenced to two and a half years at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Inspector Deon Barr served as the prosecutor.
